I think Linda Perry could actually work. And she's a proven hit writer too (that can be seen as a good or bad thing), look at all the hits she's written for Pink!
#4012 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Other singers who auditioned for VR » 910 weeks ago
I don't think any of them (aside from the big names) seem interesting enough to work with.
Maybe an unknown talent is the answer, but with the struggles they had last time getting someone, I don't like their chances of going through that again.
I suppose the big difference is they actually have albums out as VR, whereas before people wouldn't have had any idea what they sounded like, aside from being ex-Guns members.
#4013 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Velvet Revolver "fires" Scott Weiland » 910 weeks ago
then his own drummer rips on the guy and the band takes his side....
I didn't read what Matt posted as slandering Scott at all. He just said that being on the road takes it's toll in some people ie. Scott, but they were still forging on anyway.
Scott's response to Matt was completely childish, and only made him look like a a bigger tool than he already was.

There you go folks. We have final confirmation: Scott is a tool.

I think this is a good step, this band still has so much potential, and I'm glad their not letting an erratic singer like Scott keep the back.
#4016 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » VR Without Scott » 911 weeks ago
Just read the band name part in Slash's book - Slash came up with the name Revolver, then Scott added Black Velvet Revolver, then Slash suggested just Velvet Revolver, which they decided to stick with.
So I guess Slash came up with the final naming rights?

With a new name, it'd be starting from scratch again, which I don't think is fair to the work that the guys put into the band and building up the name.
Sure VR aren't as well know as GN'R as a brand, but they do have a bit of a following.
I think it would just cause more confusion to start another band name, but it also might turn into a GN'R situation with revolving members if they do keep it.
#4018 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Slash hints there will be a new singer » 911 weeks ago
That's cool to hear VR will stil be around, even without Scott, because it means Slash, Duff and Matt will still be playing together, and I think those 3 still have some good music left in them regardless of whoever sings.

Musically it sounds ok, but the lyrics seem a bit wanky. Still, I'll wait to hear more before writing it off.

I didn't see a thread on this great Australian band, so I thought I'd start one up.
For those that haven't heard of them, they are a great Aussie rock band that shit on the likes of Jet, Silverchair and Wolfmother, and here are a couple of live clips for you to check out:

Anyway, they are gearing up to release their first new studio album in 8 years, and it's gonna be great from what I've heard of it.
They've had a few lineup reshuffles recently (new drummer, new guitarist) as their founding guitarist Grant Walmsley unfortunately left. But everything seems to be sorted out now, and they are looking at putting out their new album out in May, with a huge national tour of Australia to follow.
If you dig kickass Australian rock n roll at it's best, be sure to show some support for the one of the best Aussie rock bands still around!
