I'd personally prefer a line up of Axl Rose, Richard Fortus, Izzy Stradlin, Tommy Stinson, Frank Ferrer and Dizzy Reed...

Richard has the chops to play anything, basically and has a great portfolio of contributing great guitar parts to even Rihanna style music.

Let him loose on a track that has the foundation written by Axl, Izzy and Tommy and you have a true GNR 2.0 experience.

Richard's solo spots alone make him worthy of being there, that Blacklight Jesus thing is fucking awesome.
I reckon Axl could put lyrics to that and we'd have a killer new GNR track.

Well, I don't get the hype, Richard is horrible on both NR and Rocket Queen. I think he's the worst slide guitar player on the planet right now.

a song which contradicts axlins idea of going back to 1989 (tho i know lies was a yr earlier).
y'don't make business decisions on the basis of music. if the music's good enough people will get it, rather than trying to get people by making music they want.

if you're treating it as a business you don't record & release OIAM.
that IS GnR. doing what you want in spite of the better judgement of others' wishes & fuck the consequences.
that's what he needs to get back to. instead of playing the suit & this bizness shit which so fascinates axlin & others. that shit is meaningless, OIAM is forever.

Axl doesn't have that band with him anymore. He was too pussy to keep them around.

So I still don't think you're point applies still. The cast of characters he has right now is BUILT for commercialism. Sorry, but it is what it is. I don't really like it all that much either, but i'd rather have SOME kind of GN'R, than none. I personally would prefer a GN'R with Axl Rose, Buckethead (no Robin or anyone else), Izzy Stradlin, Tommy Stinson, Frank Ferrer & Dizzy Reed releasing an album every two years, that's Praxis meets Nirvana meets Guns meets Stones meets Replacements. That's what music would be to me. But i'm not getting that.

Actually, you are not getting anything! 13

That's not what those of us that ran to get into line for drinks during his solo thought, but to each their own...

Incorrect.

The worst slide player is me. 16

I am not a fan of Richard's slide solo on Rocket Queen. But, overall, I think he is a very solid lead player with great feel. All my buds who went to the Atlanta shows thought he was the best of the "bunch".

and ps, not comparing him to Slash and Izzy...just the current Gnr guitar throng.

pss Fuck all this, I want Slash and Izzy back. I would even sacrifice my boy Tommy if needed. Yep, desperate times call for desperate measures. 18

Starting to agree. Love these guys, but they're clearly being wasted. Might as well get the old crew back together.
