Welp, new dates for USA announced now. The window for a new album to promote this tour is shrinking - basically before March, right?

I get the feeling they're going to try a surprise release. The question is are they still relevant and in the public eye enough for it to work.

Tool did fine. They are the closest comparable.

No excuses. There has been some form of excuse every year since 1994. For whatever reasons, they don’t release new music. One album of original material in 29 years! It speaks for itself.

Look up how many units it sold though. 270k is considered great now. As stated above, the album sales is not what makes anyone money. It's basically a promotional tool for more touring.

Jesus dude. Give it up already. If any of this has a shred of truth, post some links to the supposed Instagram posts or the review by some french guy that doesn't show up on Google.

Let's remember we are talking about a band that performed wearing nothing but a sock. I don't really think any of it's disrespectful. Anthony Kiedis has no chance of getting anywhere near the range to sing the song. So, he just does his best bad karaoke impression

so... South American leg announced... which pretty much covers March/April

I think we are getting something soon...

So when would it be likely to have a North American leg amongst all this? Cos my guess is that's when an album will drop? With a single/EP early 2020?

I'm hoping they squeeze Asia/Pacific in between SA and Euro but that may be unrealistic...

I think it's important to note that with as much media attention as this tour has been getting, any new song performed is going to be a big deal. I'm expecting a debut during a performance (probably SuperBowl Fest) and a single of it dropping soon after.

Sounds feasible...

Is this SuperBowl Fest broadcast widely?

I haven't been able to find a definite answer on this yet. This is the first year I've actually payed attention to it. My gut is telling me it will be televised on at least a couple sports networks.

I’d say The Seeker and Wichita are the singles.

There is no way they're promoting the first new album in a decade with two covers

The only thing “happening” is a tour. No different than tours being announced in 2016-2017-2018-2019.

As for the covers, I love The Seeker and Wichita Lineman but definitely don’t need them on a new album “taking up space”. I am fine with The Who and Glen Campbell versions. Thank you. axl21

I'd say drop the covers as a b-side on a new single.

Regrettably, this is about the NFL booking a "heritage" act.

I don't think we're in for a new song. They tried that at the VMAs and we know how that went down.

"Jungle," "Paradise," "Sweet Child," and maybe a wildcard like "You Could Be Mine" if we're lucky. The set will be limited due to the format of the game and the value of commercial airtime.

But the GNR webstore will probably have a whole new line of Super Bowl laundry bags for us to choose from, so there's that to look forward to.

They aren't playing the Superbowl. This is a music festival loosely tied to the Superbowl that Budweiser puts on in the days leading up to the Superbowl. It should be a full set, just like any other music festival.
