How does that even happen? Isn't it a keyboard in a baby grand shell?
#92 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns N' Roses tour to continue through 2017(and beyond) » 466 weeks ago
All this talk about Label turning down the album are just rumours and hearsay. There is no concrete evidence to support the claim.
Axl could have easily found a way to release music if he had wanted all these years. He just can`t be bothered anymore despite what he says.
No they are not.
And Axl couldn't simply "release music". He's signed to a record company. And the record company has a big say in what gets released and what doesn't, and what gets marketing support and what doesn't, and if they return or don't return Axl's calls or not.

Arguably one of the biggest factors in the delayed release of Chinese Democracy was that the label didn't fully buy into the idea of Axl's rebooted GN'R.
I don't think this is a fair statement. The ONLY reason for the delay was Axl.
From 1995-1998 any rebooted-GnR really didn't do anything close to releasing an album. In 1999 with OMG the label wanted a record. In 2002 with the MTV appearance & following tour the label wanted a record. In 2006 the leaks happened, yet Axl seemingly never turned in the masters. Then we got it in 2007.
So let's not blame 12 years on the label.
They turned the record in at least 2 times before it was released.
#94 Re: Guns N' Roses » Stay of Execution Album Cover » 466 weeks ago
Haha nicely done! Fits the style of the proper Chinese booklet and uses the classic typeface.
I have an image of a hotel 'stay' as well with the title's fun wordplay. Stay of execution = not being executed and also stay of execution = 'my time here was an execution'. Who's to say if that wordplay was intended.
Was always hoping to hear Oh My God and more songs like Sorry, Riad, Scraped.
Can't really say I wouldn't want some Slash blues rock n' roll now, too.

The scale is just in another world compared to the arena shows we got used to.

(And just WHAT the hell happened with that 2002 tour? I still don't think we've heard a straight answer on that...)
I so want to hear those earlier versions.
Especially 'The Blues', before it got neutered.
And a hi-fi version of the 'May' solo on Catcher.

Voice wise I thought 06-09 was awesome.
2010 was hit or miss depending on the show - generally ok but without the big screams of 06-09
2011-2014 was some tough times if you're like me and you love the rasp.
Generally 2016 has been an improvement on 2011+ but not quite at 2006 level aside from Ac/Dc where the songs facilitate constant screams \m/
THIS.

Substance abuse can make people awful cruel.

Axl`s victim complex gets irritating after a while plus he`s insecure I don`t understand why dude is insanely gifted. I refuse to believe Slash and Duff ever called him an idiot and a loser.
I completely believe that. He said "No. No, I don’t wanna get involved in any kind of Stephanie Seymour ballads or any of that sh*t” to the press - think about how hurtful that would be to read - so I can't imagine what would have been said in private.

THANKS! That helped me refine my searches - here it is:

Stephanie Seymour and original Guns guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan "did more damage to my ability as a writer. To those three, it was all crap. It beat me down so much. At the time of the (Use Your Illusion) tours, Slash and Duff said, 'You're an idiot, you're a loser.' I didn't write for years. I felt I was hindered for a very long time. I was also trying to figure out what I wanted to say, when it's right to be venting and when you're digging a bigger hole. Lyrics on Chinese took a long time."
