#93 Re: Guns N' Roses » GN'R Nominated for Hall of Fame » 718 weeks ago
I'm a huge fn of GNR but seriously if GNR gets in on 1st ballot while bands like Rush, Iron Maiden and Kiss amongst others are NOT in. Then something is VERY wrong with the Hall.

When VR came out with their first record and I heard Sucker train blues. The absolute first thing that came to mind was that this would've sounded way better with Axl's voice and lyrics. Same with the song Fall to Pieces.

Well last night I attended my very 1st U2 show on their last show of the tour. 80000 people attended this special event. First off I was VERY impressed by the stage, lights, effects and mostly the band. While I didn't hate U2 I wouldn't have called myself a huge fan before. I liked them but nothing special. After the show I got out a bigger fan and I have a huge amount of respect now for The Edge as a guitarist. Even Bono (The lead singer not the forum member) always came off to me as a bona fide superstar who was an asshole, well not last night. He came off as a very down to earth guy who remembers where they started as a band and thanked the fans for giving them the life they have. And it showed he appreciated the fans. A 2 and a half hour show I'll never forget. And for those interested here is the setlist.

Actually Izzy bashed Axl FAR worse for years, than Slash. Izzy is actually the one who created the image of Axl being a dictating nazi.
So the track record is there. But it's not as sexy or sensational to say Axl vs. Izzy as it is to say Axl vs. Slash.
I'll grant you this that at 1st Izzy really bashed Axl, but the media seemed to forget about him. I'm telling you man. This feud between Axl and Slash has been made so much worst by the media and their respective entourage that I bet that if you ask them why they hate each other they may have a hard time telling you what the other has done to piss the other off.

Absolutely agree. I still believe that if these guys got alone in a room for a few hours, you'd have a reunion tomorrow. Whether it be a fist fight, cry, shouting match, or fuck-a-thon... the issues are there and unresolved. Instead of resolving it, both of them stay stead fast with their opinion that they're right. In this case I feel both Axl & Slash are equally guilty in being egotistical.
It's just like divorce. Alot of people break up over the little things. You'll hear all the time marriages that survived multiple affairs, yet divorce gets filed because the dude keeps farting in bed.
I don't agree. While I do think that a lot would be to gain if Axl and Slash would resolve their issues I don't think they will. Axl has the type of personality that seems to hold a grudge forever, And what makes this more sad is I'm convinced that the issues are not half as bad and were simply amplified over the years by others around Axl and or Slash and or the media. And to prove my point. Look at Izzy and Duff. They seem to have settled their issues with Axl but yet as far as the media goes they don't have a track record to bash Axl and or vice versa. While Slash always seem to take the bite and what is sad is often he'll say tons of good things about Axl and yet the media will only take out the one small part where Slash took the bite and voila we have a renewed feud.

That's terrible news and I hope that Vince will do the right thing and finally let the Macho Man in the HOF.

When I saw the thread title I only read the first part of DJ says working on new GNR songs and I thought it was a radio DJ. That is how unimportant DJ Ashba is.

I have Crossroad, only album I own. Played it a lot 10 years ago
Everybody has Crossroad. See this is my take on Jovi and wether people like it or not it is the truth. In the early 90's when the grunge scene started taking over. EVERY 80's band were classified as uncool and bad and they all had to fade away. All of them. And those that survived were the ones that I think were good. Jovi survived, Metallica suvived, U2 as well. So Bon Jovi HAS to do something right cause they continued getting hits and have successful tours during a period where everything from the 80's died. And yes if you go to a Jovi show the crowd is mostly femaile. But the guys that are there ARE having a good time and rocking out. And while I wouldn't say Sambor is the absolute best guitarist in the world I would still have no shame to pit him against the best in of the best. Anyone that disputes that need to give his solo albums a listen. Sambora is an excellent musician/songwriter.
