This is a bigger deal than people realize.

This can only end badly.

I've heard things like this before.

What do you make of it? Little green men? Or military show of strength from some other country?

I'm not sure if anyone here is into this band, personally I hated them for years because of their image BUT, they've released two excellent albums over the past 3 years. Good to be Bad 2009 and this year's Forevermore.

The quality of musicianship/songwriting/production is mind blowing.
The rock on roll on thee two disks is so dirty and in your face it would re-spark your faith in rock n roll

Has anyone else listened to these albums? What do you make of them? Here's a few samples for anyone who hasn't.

All out of luck: (Best rock song of the past 10 years imo)

A fool in love:

Call on me:

Whipping boy blues:

In 2011 this is what hard rock should be. Had Axl come out of the traps in '08 with Forevermore, he would probably have lived up to the hype.

If they got new tunes to play, they'll do it in the states. The NA fans been waiting for them to play for the past what? 5 years now? It'd be a nice gesture to give them something special.

A full North American arena tour and Best Buy exclusive reissue of Chinese Democracy would both launch on March 29. The tour would run through May 17 and hit 30 markets, including NY, LA, Vegas, Ft. Lauderdale, Boston, Detroit, Toronto, Indianapolis, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Tampa, Philly, DC, Denver, San Jose, Calgary, Winnipeg, Omaha and Houston.

30 dates. Yep. All announced dates so far are on that list.

But why is Doc McGhee having so much trouble finalizing a North American tour? Multiple sponsors have already signed on, including John Varvatos, Bloomingdales and Deleon Tequila. Companies such as Monster Energy and Harley-Davidson have had discussions with GNR as well about sponsoring a tour.

Monster Energy Drink, yep. John Varvatos, yep. They have Guns N' Roses t-shirts on their new collection, the ones with the tour logo.

From his video:

Atlas
Cuban Skies
Going Down
Jackie Chan
Light My Fire
Monstrosity
Silk Worms
Soul Monster
The General
Thyme
Tonto

Going Down. Big yep!

Well, we've all seen that Guns N' Roses has being testing new stage set on South America. Maybe they wanna get in US with full power. With Axl rehearsaled and the stage tested.

And don't forget: Chinese Democracy has being vanished from US for sometime now. Like if it had never been released.

I usually laugh at these theories and wouldn't even bother to post BUT, that's a hell of a lot of coincidences.

I agree with Mc and Polluxlm though.  An EP would make much more sense.  If they re-issue chinese it should at the very least have the decent proper packaging that's surfaced online and some new tracks.

Out of interest have they named this new NA tour yet?

They still calling it  the "Chinese Democracy" tour?

If so I doubt we'll see a new album, they'd brand the tour differently if they were planning on releasing a new album. To NOT do so would be retarded.

You name the tour after whatever it is you are trying to sell to people so that when you buy ad-space for your tour in the media you're also advertising a product. I'm no expert, but that's how it seems to work. These guys are selling CD on this tour I think. (just checked and according to CD.com it's the Chi Dem 2011 tour)

Was going through terrible breakup and this song right here.. FUCK!!!! still gives me chills. and makes my eyes water:

Wow what are the chances. I was going through a horrible breakup too when I was listening to that album. Awful breakup, lost friends, girlfriend (which in retrospect I'm thankful for she was bad news) and then broke my fucking arm in the middle of it and THEN had someone close to me die, all in the space of 3 weeks. Ha ha. Fucking sounds ridiculously over the top writing it out. Funny. Life is crazy.
I though that's why the album has such a profound impact on me. Great to see it's the emotional weight of the music that carries it and not just my own crazy ass memories.

#999 Re: The Sunset Strip » Bon Jovi-These Days » 741 weeks ago

Yeah that album is nearing perfection, diamond ring is stellar too, creepy in the right way. Something for the pain and my personal fav something to believe in are classics.

The lyrics on Something to believe in and the feeling of genuine confusion in his voice coupled with the emotion of that last broken scream..... Gives me shivers everytime. He actually sounds like he's having a real crisis of faith in that song and ground-breakingly he comes out the other end of the song completely broken as though he's given up believing in anything. You just don't get that level of meaning from rock bands of that era in such plain and obvious terms, and won't find it on any other bon jovi material. That song just sums up so very very much about my own struggle with belief as a teen. Deeper than a 60 yr old hooker, but as tastefully arranged as any alt rock fashion band could manage.

Hey god is the best hard rock song Jovi ever did too, such a simple riff but a real hard hitter. REAL hard hitter in fact, fuck me it's glorious.

If that's what it takes is the perfect love song in that it's realistic and full of pain as so many relationships are. Who hasn't been there? "If that's what it takes that's what I'll do." Just powerful and accurate. That said it's not a favourite, there's just too many other excellent songs on there.

My favorite 3 tracks in order are:

The song these days itself is just fucking mind blowing.

The Jimmy Shoe's verse will be with me till I draw my last breath.

Bon Jovi are at their best when they're hungry, this album is the shiznit.

"Jimmy shoes busted both his legs, trying to learn to fly
From a second story window, he just jumped and closed his eyes
His momma said he was crazy - he said, "Momma, I've got to try.
Don't you know that all my heroes died?
And I guess I'd rather die than fade away."

I don't really give a shit if no-one ever hears about this album again, there are probably even better albums with less acclaim.

I'm just happy I found it.

Me neither the lyrics stick with you "crawl through your veins like millions of spiders" one of the most disturbing lines I've ever heard. The more you repeat that line in your head the more your skin tingles amazing stuff.
It's a shame they didn't do a video, a super aggressive one, and push this song harder.
