and lets not forget that Riad is being played in the commercials for the tour...thats gotta have a spot too....and Axl seemed big on Catcher when he did his online Q&A's .... maybe they will play the entire CD album...i'd fucking love that
I'd expect CD and Better to be certainties as they were the singles. I agree though I think as you said all bets are off, I think there'll be CD and Better played plus 4-5 other random CD tracks per night. This update says 17-18 songs however I think the average in 06 was about 20 songs so there might be even more room for variation than we're allowing.

Sounds good although from a personal point of view I wish they'd retire LALD. There's much better songs from both CD and Illusions that they could play instead.

Mm, not sure I fancy a festival. Really pisses me off the way they expect you to buy tickets on trust and only then announce the bands. Fuck that. Hopefully they'll play some additional UK dates - or I could do what I did last time and schedule a trip to Dublin to visit the family around a GN'R gig...
I agree, besides Downloads a bit of a trek for me, hopefully they do some other UK dates. Only festival I'd go to for GNR is Leeds because it's about 15 minutes away

I'd agree, but at the same time I couldn't really envision Axl doing a Michael Jackson type "This Is It" announcement and tour. Unfortunately I think, whenever he decides to call it quits, it's gonna end without much fanfare or notice.
No I couldn't envisage a press conference and the fanfare that went with Jackos announcement (for obvious reasons). However if Axl chose to say this is likely the last time I'll be touring and posted that on the site the main music media would certinaly pick up on it. Having said that I'm not sure that's Axls style I could definitely see him just disappearing with no fuss.

I'd make a case that if you don't know who ARod and Jeter are, you're living under a rock too. It actually proves my point...it is very possible to have no clue who is in a band. And they may not know who Slash is, but they know his image. His image is bigger than he is.
If you have no idea who is in a band, why would you care if when you get to the show some guy who you have no clue about isn't playing guitar?

A Private Eye wrote:Buzz you've got a point but that suggests buying your tickets and then finding out the starting squad are all reserves. In this case you know the team before you buy the ticket, so if you don't like, don't buy, don't go then boo YOUR team.
I don't believe that's true. If the team doesn't promote the fact that they are only playing reserves, but the hardcore fans that hang out at a forum about the team know because it's a pattern they've established recently, the only people showing up either want to see the scrubs, don't know it's the scrubs, or don't care because their favorite starting pitcher is pitching and they don't care who else plays. You can't knock the ones that show up expecting the regulars for booing saying they should have known...how were they to know if they are only casual fans? It's not like the radio or other media is talking about it unless you really look for it. And if you're going to see the Yankees play, why wouldn't you expect ARod, Jeter, Teix, etc to play? It's the Yankees, right?
Sorry Buzz I don't buy that as an excuse anymore, if you don't know that GNR is just Axl from the original days then you've been living under a rock. Every article regarding GNR for the last ten years has mentioned how only Axl's left. Head onto their myspace or whatever and there's a band lineup listed. If we're going with your analogy I'd say the majority are going because their favourite pitcher is playing and they know that he'll pull off some of their favourite plays.
I've got no idea who those guys are you listed by the way
, good Yankees players I'm assuming. Point is if I went to NYC and checked out a Yankees game I'd be excited because it's an experience and I'm seeing the Yankees not for any particular player because I don't know any. Same for GNR, if someone is such a casual fan they don't know Slash and Duff are gone they probably don't really know who they are in the first place.

sports fans dont usually boo at the start of a season though, they wait for the team to start sucking before they get fed up
If they know that the team has benched all the starters they want to see and are playing a bunch of minor league call-ups, they'll boo at the beginning of the game because they aren't getting the product that they thought they paid for.
I'm being misquoted here, I agree with Neemo.
Buzz you've got a point but that suggests buying your tickets and then finding out the starting squad are all reserves. In this case you know the team before you buy the ticket, so if you don't like, don't buy, don't go then boo YOUR team.

True fans.
It's just like a baseball game. The fans that 'boo' when the team does bad... only do so because THEY CARE.
The day they stop booing is when you need to worry. Same goes for GN'R. The day we stop bitching is the day the train stops a rollin'.
I see your point (although I know for a fact players appreciate and take more from fans who'll give them a pat on the back after a defeat than those who are there to glory in the victory but boo in defeat) however this is the equivalent of booing before your team walks out on the pitch.
I'd be very surprised if the band don't perform other CD songs besides the 06 songs. Perhaps not more in terms of quantity per night but I'd expect to see Scraped, Rhiad, SR and If The World given a run out at some shows.

Madagacar was the highlight of the Rio show for me. The Blues is ok but I think it sounded better in 02. Don't understand the love affair with the Catcher demo over the album version either. I love Rons work on the finished version.
