After the band came out together for a final bow, Mr. Rose seemed to decide he still had one more song in him. He called the band members back on stage. Mr. Stinson seemed to balk: he was visible from where I sat nearly throwing his bass backstage, as a roadie tried to stop him.
The rest of the band started playing “Nice Boys” from “Rose Tattoo,” but Mr. Stinson didn’t come onstage. Mr. Rose disappeared backstage, and reappeared moments later. He was followed by Mr. Stinson, who threw his bass onto a pile of equipment, flipped the middle finger at some crew members and left. The band finished the last song without a bassist."
It could've been some equipment issues, or it could've been something else. There's no way for the reviewer or anyone else not a part of the band/crew to know the context.

Ali, I love your posts. They are all so surrealistic... Like if Tommy would kill Axl onstage, cut his head off and do some voodoo dance with the bloody head, you'd say "oh, it's just an equipment issue. Or something else. Ali" and you'd advice all of us to wait for further clarification from Team Brazil, cause it can be anything, like a new 3D movie or a new Better clip. I really love your Monty Pythonish realism!
Yeah, I couldn't make heads or tails out your post.
All I'm saying is that Tommy was pissed, sure, but none of us can know what it's about, be it equipment issues (like someone who attended the show intimated at HTGTH) or something else. I didn't say anything about Team Brazil.

#103 Re: Guns N' Roses » Sorry » 691 weeks ago
I happened to come across the old (awful) musicradar review of CD today and saw this quote about Sorry:
"'Influenced' by Pink Floyd is one thing. 'Xeroxing' them is quite another.
I'm a HUGE Floyd fan and the thought of Floyd has never, ever crossed my mind when listening to Sorry. Am I alone on that?
The only part that ever registered as Floyd for me was really that guitar solo by Bucket. Otherwise, no, especially not with that Sabbath-esque guitar riff during the choruses. So, I always thought that "xeroxing" comment was off-base and myopic in scope.

Firstly...Slash can't have seemed very drunk...as Axl's camp said he didn't appear to be drunk....so they can't have been too afraid of the crazy drunk guy...(or they lied after the fact to try and damage VR futher vindictively?)
Secondly....it's irrelevant that it was night time....as that's day time to Axl....and it's the most likely time he'd be available to talk rather than if you came in the day and we're told he's unavailable because he's sleeping/showering etc.
Thirdly...I find it highly unlikely that Axl's home wouldn't have decent security...so I think they have very limited reason to be cowering in fear of other celebrities.
1) I don't know how Slash "seemed", but you can read for yourself in his book that he admits he was drunk. I just re-read that passage last night, actually.
2) I understand that maybe that would be the best time to catch a night owl. But, that doesn't mean that the other people in the house are awake then or that that is a time at which one might be expecting someone to knock on the door or ring the doorbell, etc. So, it is relevant.
3) I never said "cowering in fear", but I'd taken off guard by someone I had a falling out with showing up at my door, unannounced at an unusual hour of the day for someone to be stopping by. I'd be wary of what their intentions were, what was going on and I'd be hesitant to talk to someone under those circumstances. Perhaps others might be too?
Regardless of the above, I think it's bit towards the ridiculous side to say that it was either show up unannounced on someone's door, at an odd hour, intoxicated or file a lawsuit, as if it's that black and white, and there's no other recourse for getting a response. I just don't see that at all. There are phone calls, e-mails, and legal representatives that can used as channels for communication.

Has happened to me a few times.
I've always given them the time of the day.
Never regretted those, btw.
Maybe I'm more cautious than you, but I'd be extremely wary, especially if it was someone I had a falling out with.

Let me ask you this Ali - what time of day or night do you think Axl is most likely to be awake?
It's a known fact that he's mostly nocturnal.
If you are desperate to have a real one-on-one heart to heart with him it's a lot more likely to happen at 5.30am than 5.30pm and we both know it.
I'm not disputing that according to his reputation, Axl would most likely be awake at 5:30 a.m.
But, I just think it's funny that you would state that it's either answer the door to unannounced visit at 5:30 a.m. from someone who's drunk or have a lawsuit filed against you, as if there are no other alternatives. I think phone calls, even between legal representatives, to just set up a discussion of the matters related to various suits is a possible path. There are other alternatives, so I completely disagree that it's either answer the door under those circumstances or have a suit filed against you.
I don't know about you Monkey, but I gotta say that if a drunk person I haven't talked to in a long time shows up at my door unannounced, letting them in or talking to them isn't at the top of my priority list
Also, I am pointing out that possibility that Axl may not have been present at the time of the visit - that's never been confirmed - or that perhaps Beta interceded and met with Slash at the door, not letting Slash meet with Axl, thinking, perhaps mistakenly, that she was acting in Axl's best interest.

Exactly.
Even when Slash was in the band he was only allowed to communicate with Axl through Doug, these days Beta tells anyone who comes to see Axl that he's in the shower....if they have a dispute over copyright payments - what else can they do other than file to get some kind of responce?
You mean as an alternative to a 5:30 a.m. unannounced visit to someone's home?
I don't know, I hear that wacky Alexander Graham Bell invention called the "telephone" is a viable means of communication

Gimme a break. If you go back and read the press release on the subject, it sounds like Axl was "hopeful that Slash would live up to his pronouncements that he wanted to end the war and move on with life. Unfortunately that did not prove to be the case." That last bit being in reference apparently to the lawsuit they filed in regards to the ASCAP royalty checks not being sent to them.
So - and this is not a judgement either way - perhaps any significance the gesture of Slash coming to Axl's house that night/early morning was nullified by the subsequent lawsuit in Axl's eyes. Again, not saying that's right or wrong, just that's my interpretation from the language in the press release.
This actually reminded me of an interview I heard Billy Corgan give an Aussie radio station where he said when people ask him about reforming the original Pumpkins, his thought is "o.k., which lawsuit should I forget about?" Meaning, while it may not seem like a big deal to those of us on the outside, perhaps the hassle, in terms of time and/or money, and/or stress of these lawsuits may really piss some people off.

And you're assuming that Axl was even there at his at that time. Which was never, ever confirmed. Could he have been? Sure. It's never been confirmed that he was, only that he came over to talk to Axl and instead spoke to Beta and Slash himself said he was drunk at the time.

The guys in the band referred to insults against Axl by the old band, not against them. Steve is guilty for sure, but did anyone take him even remotely seriously?
I figured they were throwing out the standard stab at Slash, Duff and Matt for gutting Axl in the press which I am challenging by looking for that material.
Taking him seriously and/or being offended by Steven's comments about Axl is another matter though, isn't it? If you read his recent interview with RS, it made reference to his post-RRHOF comments about Axl. To his credit, Steven owned up to them and merely said he's more at peace with the situation now.
Whether or not his comments were taken seriously is one thing, but Steven did make disparaging remarks about Axl and the band.
