This ad used to promote the CD release in the UK last year was also pretty good. I'd say this new one along with that are the two bits of new GNR promo we've seen.

I love that ad, although all the people heading to gunsnroses.com are going to have a fruitless excercise 16 Hopefully the site will be updated soon.

Actually there's a great chance because the games are perfect, you can hardly fault them.

There's still plenty of games that are better though. They might be faultless for a 2D platformer from 1994 but it still doesn't make them the best imo.

Depends what you're looking for. I'm not sure I'd say VC is the best game ever but then I wouldn't say Sonic or Mario are either. They played a massive part in computer game culture but that doesn't make them the best games. I've got piles of PC, PS1, 2 and 3 games in my house all of which I'd rather play than Mario and Sonic for several reasons. The main reason being that they're just out and out better games from graphics to concept to story.

I can only assume nostalgia is playing a massive part in this nomination (which is understandable) because there's not a chance in a hell one of Mario or Sonic is the greatest game ever.

^ Completely agree with this. As much as I enjoyed IV it was a dissappointment compared to San Andreas and for the reasons you mentioned. The fun had somehow gone, it almost took itself a little too seriously, combined with the fact that whilst Liberty City looked amazing it was quite disorientating and somehow didn't have the magic that the previous 3 titles cities did.

I think III will be remembered simply because it was the first of the GTA titles to go 3D and having such freedom in a game that felt so real was almost unheard of. I remember at school me and all my friends got the game for christmas and we must have talked about what we got up to on that game every day for 4-5 solid months. For me VC and then SA built on this which resulted in SA being the near perfect game imo.

It's a shame SA and VC had to face off in the elimination because I think SA is a better game than IV and it should SA and VC left representing GTA at this stage and not IV.

See for me I'd say that was more likely for Mario (for me at least). As a series I remember Mario but I couldn't tell you which specific Mario games I played as a kid, whereas GTA each game is a lot clearer to me (although granted I've played all the GTA games a lot more recently).

SMB as a series will be remembered for decades. Specifically regarding each and every installment will be also. The same cannot be said for the GTA series, people will remember the series for sure but not specifics of each installment.

Won't they? I think each city/game from GTA III onwards has enough of its own character for each game to be remembered specifically rather than just as one big series that all blend into one.

You can see the 'oh for fucks sake' look in his mum and dad's eyes when he says that 16

Talk about awkward.
