The popular meaning of MTV is mostly the visual language they helped to develop through presenting music videos. Hence, "MTV-style", which generally refers to fast cutting, odd angles and other promo video staples. Their reality shows (which I have not watched) are likely to carry on that visual tradition.
So their name may come from music television, but the abbreviation was disassociated from its original meaning a long time ago.

Film is still called film, even if they increasingly shoot/process/project high-definition video.

They realized they aren't very good at it?
I had to stop watching after 90 seconds, as I was starting to feel my brain cells deteriorate.

Gore Vidal's $0.02 on the US Constitution / Presidential Elections
I was rather surprised on the case as he brought it up.
Do watch the rest of it as well, he brings out a lot of good points.

you have to admit, that you have more votes than this topic has views doesn't really add up... and yeah, if you click around on a few of the accounts, most of them seem fake.
It's likely it's been rigged by someone who thought it'd be a laugh at the expense of the GNR Facebook admin.
I pointed out the high quota of ladies voting, which was unusual considering the forums overall demographics.
In all fairness, I think HTGTH and MyGNR should be above Evo (& GNR.com) in the poll, due to longevity for one.
In any case, wasn't trying to take anything away from the site.
You, sir, couldn't take us anything that we would more than willingly part.
I'm a fan of gnrevo, and sometimes wish we could have the same in-depth, measured debates over at our site that you guys have.
Kind words.
Don't be a stranger!

Our debt situation is dangerous as hell. It is the biggest threat to our way of life. But we have two parties in power that are not serious about fixing it.
I hope I don't sound facetious, but would it be a bad thing in the long run if the current economic system would in fact collapse?
A lot of things regarding a way of life would change with many, undoubtedly.
There would probably be an amount of human suffering, unfortunately.
But the current system is not exactly equal, either. Corporations are ruling the show, investment banks wrangle billions out of taxpayers' pocket via the government. If they want it fixed, it's because they like their power structure too much to give it up. The little people seem to be just clogs in the machine.

Great work, gang.
I like the fact that so many ladies are voting for us. Guess they lurk lots

On the bands part, the effect appears uncanny.
If it'd be a tour, puling posters out of circulation could be very bad. Since it's a residency, the audiences are likely to come around throughout. The Vegas residency just made national news, anyway.
Elsewhere in the news, Axl sat down with Edna Gundersen, then Jimmy Kimmel and performed with Neil Young.
Things have been worse.

Nitpicky!
That's Exorcist III: Legion, to be precise.
One of my favorite novels, the adaptation lessened by a gaudy reshot ending, dictated by the production company.
That very nice George C Scott monolog was one of the best things to come out of the reshoot.

Guns N' Roses - Guns N' Roses Show Adverts Removed Following Outcry
05 November 2012
Controversial posters advertising Guns N' Roses' upcoming Las Vegas residency have been taken down after campaigners accused them of glamorising rape.
Axl Rose's band is performing a series of shows at the Hard Rock Hotel in Sin City until the end of the month (Nov12) and the concerts have been advertised with an image of a woman who appears to have been sexually assaulted under the city's famous 'Welcome' sign.
The picture appeared on posters, billboards and in newspapers, sparking outrage among anti-sexual abuse campaigners.
Hannah Brook, executive director of The Rape Crisis Center, tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal, "This type of advertising is simply unacceptable. Not only for just the victims and the message of violence it brings, but also for the community in general. This is not the type of message we want to portray to tourists that are coming to our city. We want them to know it's a safe place to come, and by putting a message out there with Las Vegas above it is concerning."
Bosses at the Hard Rock Hotel have now issued an apology and modified all of the adverts.
A statement from the company reads, "Hard Rock Hotel & Casino regrets that the Guns N' Roses advertising for their current shows has offended any member of the community. The resort has decided to further modify the art and began the process of changing the materials (on Friday)."
The band's shows kicked off at the Hard Rock Hotel on Halloween (31Oct12).
"This is not the type of message we want to portray to tourists that are coming to our city."
Indeed, Vegas has always been known for its high morals and cultivated standing.
