#11751 Re: Guns N' Roses » Overall feelings on the CD era songs.... » 888 weeks ago

The 4 remaining songs on CD better be straight ahead, balls out rockers, and about something other than Stephanie Seymour.

If not, Axl might want to consider throwing The General on there, or else there will be no forth album to put it on.

If its nothing but mid tempo ballads about how heart broken he is, he will look completely insane...er. He's going to be forever known as the guy who spent 14 years, 14 million dollars writing love lorn ballads about a supermodel he dated for a year.

Baz is a flake, but he's a lovable flake, and seems pretty damn loyal to Axl.

I can see your point DTJ, he might have a circle of real friends, but Baz seems to be the only one of Axl's inner circle that seems to talk truthfully to Axl... What Baz said to him really didn't deserve the kind of ridicule he got from Axl.

I just think it would be very hard for someone, not a hanger on or an employee, to be friends with Axl. I'm not saying he's a bad guy, he just seems wayyyyy too complex, and talking to him has to be like walking through a mine field. And really, the info Baz gives is NOT that big a deal to normal people, rock stars. And it says something that all of us think it is a big deal. You know?

I seriously can't get this song out of my head. The more I listen the more I love it. It could totally fit on top 40 radio... But then again, it doesn't fit on top 40 radio. No one can deny how genius Axl is at structuring a song, with his own weird, insane formula.

Hey, if it wasn't for Baz we would have ZERO real insight into GNR right now. We'd have no idea about the four albums or the song Sorry, or the description of The General. I'm really glad Baz likes to talk... a lot.

That's right. I remember now.

Really, I don't know what the big deal was about people seeing that setlist that caused GNR to freak out.

Did we ever figure out what Sway was? New song or did it stand for something else?

I know how Bucket sounds, man. I own his albums. But I also know how Robin sounds. It flows exactly with his Funkmetal vibe. Since I have no idea who it is I can't say for certain, it just feels more Robin to me.

A lot of his lyrics have an element of cheese, though, James. Especially in the new songs. The Blues, and TWAT specifically. But it still works.

I will bet anything this song is in deed Prostitute. He says it clearly in the outro, and Prosecute myself makes no damn sense with the lyrics... Or at least how I'm hearing them. I remember someone, I think Paul Buckmeister but I might be wrong, said that Prostitute didn't really blow him away and he couldn't understand why Axl was toiling away on it the most. Maybe it's denial, but I think a lot of people built this song up really big in their minds and the version in their heads sounded a lot different than the reality. It's no Welcome To The Jungle mixed with Novemeber Rain that I was expecting, but it sounds like "Fire And Ice" to me. This is just speculation on my part that it is Prostitute, but I am pretty much 100% sure in my mind that it is.

The song is amazing, though. One of my favorites of all the new songs.

I like this song, but I'm not in love with it. I wish it had more umph to it. Like a TWAT solo from Bucket. I don't know, I don't hear Bucket on it that much at all, from what I can tell. It sounds more like a Robin song.
