Now that the noob(me) got the antinoob rant outta his system...
Fuck it man.. let them in.. it doesn't make a whole hell of alot of sense to close membership for a couple of lea...ooops.. weeks...
This is the warmest board i've ever been a member of, and if someone comes here and asks for a pm just to break the ice... so be it. if they're legit.. they'll get the hookup..

I don't think this sounds dated (even though some would disagree...Yah...lookin at you Patton...)
Uh... Seriously???
I can't tell if that's a joke or not, and if it isn't could you explain?
If I come off kinda like an ass for asking like that, sorry, but I don't understand that one at all and I'd seriously like to know why you think that. If you like it fine, to each thier own. But timeless...
More Of a Joke since in the video that has patton saying they sound dated he goes on to say he's fixing to start work on 60s style Italian pop(or something like that).
Just seemed really hypocritical to me. Patton is amazing but concieted IMO.And although it does sound 70s ish. I love the Wolfmother album.
yeah.. patton is brilliant. The problem is.. he knows it.
he's like dennis miller(back when he was still funny)... he pulls all this random obscure shit out of his ass and if you don't get it, you're a retard...
but i still luvvum....

i agree with james AND axlin....
i can understand why we shouldn't be posting links to the site, it puts the forum in jeopardy of being shut down... on the other hand when these people with no avs posts 20 times about " hey! can someone pm me a leak?" and you click on their profile and it's there 1st or 2nd post, i really kinda pisses me off that the only goddamn reason they even registered on this forum was to look for fucking leaks, not to be a part of the community. I probably haven't been around here long enough to bitch about shit like this, but maybe temporarily suspending new members for a while is a good idea... i don't want these lazy pricks crudding up such a great forum.. i'll tell ya.. if someone pm's me for the hook up... the FIRST thing i do is see how long they've been here... if it seems like a lurker who only joined up to get leaked tracks... they get NO response... so i understand the purpose of: " here's the site.... now fuck off"...

i admit.. it's killer..but doom metal?
electric wizard, cathederal, saint vitus, acid bath, sunn o))) and My Dying Bride are different styles of "doom metal"... no part of that song sounds anything like any of those bands...
it has waaaay more in common with pink floyd than it does with pentagram...Ever heard of the Sword? They are a doom metal band and their riffs sound similar to the main riff in Sorry. The beginning of Sorry does sound like Pink Floyd. I'm talking about the chorus though when it comes to doom metal.
eh.. kinda... dude, "Gods of the Earth" is my shit...
in context with the rest of the song, i'm really not gettin' the sword vibe...
but it is a mildly sabbathy kinda riff.... it just wasn't what i pictured in my head when baz said that...

good call james.. "switch opens" still gives me goose bumps...
and.. um...strat0...wolfmother?
i won't pass judgement.. but we may wanna give that a couple o' more years...
here's one i may catch some shit for:
Motley Crue-Motley Crue...
the one record without vince neil carved a nice little spot in my permanent playlist...
I think it never really got the credit it deserved for being the heaviest and most diverse(by far) motley record ever... it truly was a testament to their diversity..
There were dark moments..."uncle Jack"..."til death.."... and tender moments.."loveshine" "drift away"... and even a track that vince coulda sung and it woulda been able to hang with Dr feelgood... "poison apples".. it never got a fair shake because of the corabi thing, which is a shame, because he's such a versitile vocalist.. they coulda done ANYTHING after this record, and they caved to the reunion pressure...in all honesty, they shoulda never called it motley crue...oops.. kinda sounds familiar

tylerdurden wrote:you gotta think, to people other than the hardcore motherfuckers... AFD was perfect at the time for the mainstream... UYI was an ambitious project by a band that was on the verge of being the next Zeppelin/stones/aerosmith.. and CD is being released to an entirely different musical climate.
I agree with a lot of your post(s), but now I disagree. AFD was against everything that was popular in the mid-late 80s. GN'R was the out-of-glam rock band, which didn't sing about being a cowboy and ride a Harley, going to a drive-in movie with your girlfriend etc. It was heavy, really heavy, both musically and lyrically. It wasn't Unskinny Bop, it was Welcome to the fuckin' Jungle and they changed the whole landscape, while none of them, including managers and company bosses, thought it would be successful.
No... the hair metal scene was becoming alot like mainstream rock now...
a shitload of bands that looked and sounded just like the last band before it...
but by 88-89 that shit was already becoming a parody of itself... it was played out..eventually you had 3rd generation copycats like slaughter and fucking firehouse... The mainstream didn't immediately latch on to appetite, but when it did, it was the beginning of the end for ALL of the bands that dressed like chicks...it was a movement.. a paradigm shift... all of a sudden, motley crue were wearing harley davidson t shirts and not shaving... EVERYONE wanted to be them..but THEY were real. and everyone knew it. it wasn't pretty, and it put them in a position to BE the next... whatever. Grunge took that to the next level. and while there may have been some of those bands up in seattle already, (Alice in chains was originally called "Alice N' Chainz") No major label would have EVER had the balls to sign a band like nirvana or pearl jam had it not been for the success of AFD...
edit* so basically.. it WAS perfect for the mainstream at the time...
