Axl has been trending at the top of Yahoo all day. And they have the story about his Halloween tree.
For the record, Fortus got a bigger pop from the crowd than Tommy did. Fortus, the man who gets no respect with GN'R fans gets respect from everyone else!
(my respect for Richard has gone up a X10000 times since the beginning of the current era tours.)
^Quoted for truth.
Except for Fortus, I'm with Sky Dog on him.
Glad to see Ron get exposure, he's the ultimate Good Guy in band.

"Still have those cornrows?"
"What, did I save them?"

Anywhere I can see this online?

So you mean that Axl is always underrehearsed and doesn't prepare for the shows/tours after a hiatus and we should get used to it?
First night = First out of two at the Bridge School Event.
Little evidence exists on the 2nd night so far, but it seems to gone down better.

You said that, not me, BUT.
That does seem to be the case, and chances are it will happen in the future until he gets smart or we get lucky. Pointing out that he's in ill shape is one thing, but don't expect it to make any difference in how he conducts himself. The best you can do (after establishing a fair point) is to keep dragging with it and sounding like a broken record.

I can only wonder that some people need to see a benefit show to realize that other people are facing enormous and sometimes unbearable problems.
Watching the first night. It's awful. It can rival the Rio disaster. Axl sounds like a karaoke parody of himself. Retire or rehearse.
You watched a benefit show to to realize Axl was facing enormous and sometimes unbearable problems with his singing on the first night.
Personally, I'm just saying it's not the end of the world, or the band. A bad night for him, definitely. The crowd seemed to be taking it all in, tho. Seeing them feel good about it made me feel warm inside, too. If that's evading the realities of Ax's performance to you, too bad.

Patience, 2nd Night.

A completely different Axl. Still not on an all-star level, but a vast overnight improvement.

I saw that and then it crystallized for me that while people are complaining about the raspiness, or lack thereof, in Axl's voice and all that, there was something much more significant about this particular gig. Something that went beyond the performances themselves.
That's true. Some people are tied to wheelchairs for the duration of their lives. Others bicker about someone's voice. One should never take certain privileges for granted.

Gotta say I'm staggered at the doom mongers in this thread and how disappointing it is to see long time members who go months between posts jump in as soon as GNR do something to predictabley tell everyone how shit it was.
Do tell.
The battered housewife paradigm gets thrown out a lot when it comes to the GNR fanbase, and 'doomy' is just a housewife word for 'realistic'. Some people love to hate this band, and having grown jaded enough not to get excited on anything, they still feel the need to get up and release some of that pent-up frustration whenever an excuse comes their way.
Move on or move over, that's my suggestion. Axl will never bow to corporations, let alone disheartened fans. Spending one's life getting worked up because one doesn't get what one expects with them (or any other musical entity) is a bit of a waste, wouldn't you say?
As for the performance, some of it was bad on Axl's current standards, some (like the one below) serviceable. Wasn't a Rock In Rio level debacle, just a lesser show than usual. Does that warrant a mopping to accommodate the moods of the few at the expense of the many? I don't think so.

On a more general level, isn't it funny how the people one cares about the most can be the most infuriating people to him/her on the planet?

it's EMBARRASSING that what should be one of the biggest bands in the world have shrunk to promoting themselves in such a tawdry manner
The 2002 band was more embarrassing. Not because of the people involved as such, but because of the way certain someone handled himself.

Poking at various taboos (sexual and otherwise) at mostly a dialogue level? The most recent candidate to try and make that funny:
