I got to thinking what sort of a release I'd like to see, if any. Came up with the notion that a release comparable to Lies would be optimal in this situation. The band could toss out the best four unreleased songs from the CD sessions and throw together a B-side with covers like Sailing & Whole Lotta Rosie and two top remixes from CD. Better would deserve a another shot, for one.
Do the whole thing digitally for a few reasons. For one, the amount of casual listeners would be greater if they could just get the tracks online. Secondly, a full-on digital release would get a bit of a media buzz, and it would also come across as a decidedly "in-between" release instead of a follow-up album to CD.
It would introduce the current band to the mainstream audience, get the CD vaults out of the way and give them a chance to start afresh with a new album. If Axl wants to move on, he needs to move on from both AFD and CD.
Of course, this is just wish-fulfilment, as there was a time when we used to wait for an album, now we just hope they'd do one

Freese's intention always was to write a big, generic riff.
In fact, for all the reports of Rose's endless tweaking, Freese says the song is very close to the original. "I think they made the intro longer," he says. "I'd have 'em cut right into the thing. It's a simple bonehead rock song with a big riff that I'm assuming will be perfect for 'Guitar Hero' one day."

Between the CD writing credit and A Perfect Circle, Josh Freese remains one of the big winners in the saga.

I'm with you on that.
Just funny how quick people turn speculation into a reality hitting their way in the near future

For a good while, the management kept saying "he's on contract".

It's the best time travel movie that isn't about time travel.
Best Bruce Willis movie in a REALLY long time.
12 Monkeys?

Les Vampires; Episode I: The Severed Head.
I was amazed how smooth watching it made, despite being a century old.

We've all bitched for years that he should be doing something like this and now he is. Dude's never done anything on anyone's time scale but his own, so it doesn't matter to me that it's some 6 years (at least) after I thought it was a good idea.
You know, I'm with Buzz on this one.
I'm pretty meh on the subject, but I reserve the right to be pleasently surprised.
At this point, it's all well and good Ax's doing these things. Aside the gigs, there's currently little to get excited about with him doing them.
He's promoting? Good.
Live shows? Meh...
That's the crux of the matter. I like the fact that they're doing charity shows with Neil Young and then heading to a residency in Vegas. Those are good things for the band, certainly. But this band is still a half-way cover band of the lineup that recorded CD.
Like in '02 and '06, the lineup needs an album of their own in order to have an identity and to line themselves up alongside the legacy of GNR. Then again, Axl's never let any post-Slash lineup a chance to shine in due time.
He only takes them out just for show(s). Now he's doing interviews to boot.

To be fair, if they're trying to get people to go see this in theaters, they have to sell it by "using" the brand.
Fair enough, but at least one (1) CD song wouldn't had hurt.

Tis nice to get a new release with a quality show (& IZZY).
But whoever put together that trailer (RRHOF mention / no CD songs) oughta be ashamed of themselves. Better than Better, tho.
