Clearly, it has to do with what I would guess: anxiety, stage fright, psyching  oneself up to perform & getting into that zone / mind frame.

Him being an anxious sod before showtime has always played a part. When I saw them in '06, he was still en route from London (another country!) during the warmup band. Good show, tho, but that tardiness has also gotten gigs canceled. There are also the numerous instances, mostly during the UYI tour, wherein he excused himself from showing up on time in order to watch the fireworks, have a go at the casino, etc. Meanwhile, the rest of the band were getting wasted and the audiences riled up.

It's always been a trade-off between overcoming actual pre-show issues and his handlers allowing petulant behaviour. Del James' enabling article is prolly the most embarrassing example in recent memory.

How hard is it to allocate the necessary prep time for a show in advance and do what's needed to perform - and take the stage within a reasonable timeframe? Guns is always an Axl show in that, and the mental issues have unfortunately included selfishness. In the past, he's needed to be the main attraction and wanted to be waited on.

To his credit, he's been improving in that sense in the recent years. That's another reason why AC/DC is good news - Angus would kick him to the curb for the diva behaviour he's demonstrated in Guns over the decades.

Pretty sure Angus has also quickly realized how talented Axl is....don't think he will be kicking him to the curb anytime soon.

Yeah the sales for those added dates are brutal. I think it was a mistake to add them. There were no issues until they got too ambitious.

If those few stadiums are going to be empty, maybe give Cornell a call and see if Soundgarden would be willing to open those few dates. Wouldn't help me any as I don't live in those areas but it would help move an extra 10-15k tickets easily.

I doubt it happens though. We wont see Soundgarden again until they have an album in stores. They also joked a bit about CD during an interview that is no longer on the net so they might hold that against them.

regardless of the opening act, I agree it was a mistake to add some of these second dates prior to the tour even starting. However, it is not our job to do the promoters and the bands job. They will figure it out and have done a helluva job up to this point.

Gag order? Come on Smoking! Those three had to agree on what they are doing Guns wise. Don't blame Axl.

and don't tell me Slash isn't fat, he is. It is just what happens to us middle aged fucks.

#1247 Re: Guns N' Roses » Axl vs Google/the internet » 518 weeks ago

Well, he is kinda chunky (as is Slash). However, he is singing his ass off and kicking so much ass with AC/DC that I don't think he needed to bring attention to it. He is a chunked middle aged man now....own it and go out and still be the man like Elvis in the 70's.

Once that Gnr tour amps up, you are gonna have fat Axl and Slash pictures popping up from the haters. It is inevitable.

Of course I am happy. But, let's call a spade a spade. This is a cash grab tour....
