"In order to promote Guns N'Roses, Rose diligently attempts to channel fan and media attention to the current status of the band, including the current line up, and focus on the bands current endeavours and plans for the future."

Hows that exactly, by putting GNR fansites on the payroll?

"Rose and Guns N'Roses pursue a forward looking outlook, rather than one which dwells on the past."

What'd I miss?

Queen were the first big rock band I got into, and it was because of how big they were in the eighties. I was too young to really get into Live Aid, although Do You Know Its Christmas Time was the first record I ever owned, I got it on Christmas day that year.
Live at Wembley 86 was huge though, it was broadcast on TV here and I remember watching that. I've still got the original broadcast that my folks taped on betamax, me and my brother used to watch it every rainy day.

These Are The Days Of Our Lives was released at the time of Freddies death in 1991 and went to number 1, Bohemian Rhapsody was a b-side.
It wasnt until 92 and Waynes World that Bohemiam Rhapsody had its real resurgance, with the revamped video featuring clips from Waynes World.

As for the car stereo, a number of people use that technique. As studio monitors kick ass, but sometimes you want to know what a song will sound like on normal equipment.

The accoustics in cars and vans are fantastic, music always sounds amazing!
I still think someone dropped the ball at the mixing stage though, theres a few moments on the album that are well dodgy. How the fuck do you go about drowning out the drums?? 14

I think the madness of making the album there to see warts and all, the years of tweaking levels, adding and removing parts etc are all quite obvious when you listen to it.
I think you can plainly hear that someone has been fretting and fussing over each song, making slight adjustments to each instruments volume all the way throughout each song. The problem with that is mabye at some point you have it perfect, but when you are fussing over it for such a huge length of time, you lose perspective and cant focus on what sounds best and you continue tweaking away until that moment of perfection is long gone and it becomes a bit of a meandering mish mash.
For me that is the reason the mixing quality of the album meanders all the way through.

Wait that's a live french horn? I thought Pitman just said it was pro tools?

Pitman said the song came about when they were jamming in one of his first sessions at Axls studio, but Suzy Katayama played real french horns on the album version.

I think Madagascar sounds weaker by having the live french horn instead of using a synthesizer, its too soft and gets drowned out, or mabye its just shoddy mixing. Its a pity as that melody seems to drive the live versions and makes the song all the more powerfull.

I wonder how much of that kind of indulgence was due to Axl or others, Roy Thomas Baker for example.

I remember when Dre's 2001 was coming out, MTV was in full on early 90's mode. I remember thinking  "this is fuckin sweet, a new Dre album and a new Guns N Roses album coming soon!"

Are some of them not a little old to be cheerleaders?

Those jets fly really low across the countryside here, freaks me out sometimes. Your having a nice scenic drive and then one of these fuckers appears out of nowhere, 50 ft above your head in a deafening roar - heart attack material!

Wouldnt mind so much if they were actually cruising across the hills firing missiles at cops hiding in bushes with speed guns...

Axl also twitted that he wasnt referring to any past bandmates when he said that "it was pretty low and selfish to be using the Haitian earthquake to start false reunion rumours."
I seem to remember at the time some people pointing the finger at Madison as who he was talking about. This was even before he flipped out at her over the t-shirt story.
