Del: Do you think he [Slash] can play guitar?

Axl: I prefer listening to others in general, especially those who both push their talents and infuse them with a level of energy that I've seldom heard in his efforts over the years. I'm not taking anything away from the man that are his to claim for his past efforts; it's just that for whatever reason for me, whether the approach, style or basic hands-on technique is there, the passion and true dedication to the art of guitar in his chosen area other than being, in my opinion, a whore for the limelight has generally seemed absent or lacking with most efforts for a long time. To me, it's sad. I don't get it. Where does it go? Is it a choice? Sometimes it's there on covers; I think Clive [Davis, legendary record executive] fell for that.

I sort of agree with this, in that was my biggest beef with Slash post GN'R. I just don't hear anything great coming out of him like he did back then. I just haven't. But that's a matter of taste, too. And I recognize that.

And he nails it about cover songs. Slash is fucking AMAZING when he covers a song. The cover he did of "Hey Joe" gave me goosebumps, literally. I wanted to see him back in GN'R and I wanted him to play like that more often... Then, his solo album happened. And now you're a lie. I don't get it either. And this isn't a Axl vs Slash post. Not at all. I just don't understand how Slash could even be playing with Myles, let alone creating the music he is with him. He should have been the next Jeff Beck. When I first heard Snakepit I can't tell you how disappointed I was. Meh... It's really not worth getting into, because I know this is going to start something and I don't mean it to.

I think there's a silver lining in his comments, that he seems to take it personal that Slash has settled. I mean, it's like Slash is personally insulting him with his music and lack of, not effort, but progression. I could see this as being THE crux of their problem. Seriously. Axl could have felt abandoned when Slash made it clear he wasn't going to work that hard. That basically they weren't on the same team anymore.

Not saying Axl was right at all, because Slash just can't stay in a studio, noodling and tinkering with shit for years and not release anything, but I understand why they can't work together now.

Yeah slash should just call it quit 14

I personally hate green day - no offence to those fans...just not my style of music, and a truly strange choice IMO, i can imagine duff listening to them but I'd be surprised if Steven or Slash was into that sound.

Only the complete failure of CD II and his loss of bankability will see him even consider a reunion now.

A statement from the freak

Adler

We had a full press day yesterday and I'd like to shed some light on my comments about the current Guns N Roses lineup. Sometimes my emotions get the best of me when talking about my former band. It’s hard to see your ex in bed with somebody else. We created one of the biggest selling debut albums of all time and it’s no secret that I want to finish what we started 25 years ago and play together at the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame. The guys that Axl has put together are all great players. They’re not hacks in the sense that they can’t play, they’re all incredible musicians. I just meant that they are not the original lineup. I would like to apologize to Axl, Bumblefoot, D.J., Tommy, Dizzy, Richard, Frank, and Chris for my statement.

I'm just gonna throw this out there;

Why in the fuck is it not ok to like EVERYTHING? I went through this in the 80s & 90s with Pink Floyd and I'm going on enduring 2 decades of it with Guns N' Roses fans now.

In the 80s people would act like I was bat shit insane for going to see Dave's version of Floyd but saying how much I enjoyed Radio KAOS or The Wall Live In Berlin (Roger's solo stuff going on at the time). Then later in the 90s, I would get told I couldn't possibly like both if I were attending Dave's Floyd shows but saying much much I liked Amused To Death. Then when attending Roger shows since '99, I've had a bunch of people tell me there's just no way I could've liked Floyd without Roger.

What. The. Fuck?

Can't I just like what I like? For example, I LOVE Chinese Democracy and the first VR record. I love some Izzy solo stuff, I like some of the Loaded material. Isn't that ok? Or am I expected to just draw some stupid line in the sand for other people's sake?

I have nothing against Slash or anyone else who's been in Guns N' Roses and chose to leave because it's not my band. Why they left isn't my business. Who's "Right or wrong" doesn't concern me, the art does. If anyone makes art I like, I'm going to listen to it and talk about it no matter how much sense it might not make to someone else or if it doesn't go by "their rules".

To be fair I think a lot of people on the forums fit into this category. Even if they don't admit it, they'll probably own the records and listen to them, even if its on 'shuffle' :-)

The RRHOF is still a fandango though. Come on guys, 'man up'!

Yeah right i dont think so 14
