personally I don't get in to the production that much as I listen to old country stuff from the 30's up....just care about the songs

touche...I like The Fragile but Reznor runs his own show as did Roger Waters as does Axl. I actually hadn't read the Whispers stuff on Ezrin....great stuff.
#1355 Re: Guns N' Roses » Stay of Execution » 571 weeks ago
the infamous 3 songs is just complete bullshit from Gnr fan boards.....Bob Ezrin hasn't been relevant since The Wall...another indusrtry insider magician...none of these alleged gurus can predict what the actual public wants...NONE. It's all a guessing game. I wish I had a Roger Waters quote to back this up but he has a classic in the same vein. An artist does what they do and when they throw it out there, some sticks and some doesn't. Such is life....
Where is our boy James Lofton, how did Soundgarden's big comeback turnout with the public? Yep, nobody really cared except the hard cores. How many records did it sell? How many concert tickets did they sell? Minimal at best. Axl on his own did better numbers than their big "reunion". The Gnr thing needs to be put in perspective all the way around from hardcores to newbies. The brand is a legacy act and will NEVER approach what it was...reunion or no reunion. All we got right now is the hope that Ax will decide to give us the rest of the Chinese Sessions. Period.

TWAT, IRS, THE BLUES, CD....all semi classic sounding Gnr tracks....could have all been singles imo...should have went with the big gun TWAT right off the bat. All or nothing....

I think if it was actually "rejected", it would have been back around 2000 after OMG kinda did nothing on the radio. I am thinking by 02 it was good to go but Axl just got cold feet.

yep, then fast forward to Axl's last known comment on 5-30-2014....
Quote from: Axl Rose, May 30, 2014
“We recorded a lot of things before ‘Chinese Democracy‘ was out” ... “We’ve worked more on some of those things and we’ve written a few new things. But basically, we have what I call kind of the second half of ‘Chinese.’ That’s already recorded.” ... “Then we have a remix album made of the songs from ‘Chinese.’ That’s been done for a while, too. But after Vegas, we’re going to start looking very seriously and what we’re doing in that regard.”
That's all we got fellas...currently, we don't know who is in the band or out of the band, no tour dates and no earthly idea if we will ever hear "the second half of Chinese."
#1359 Re: Guns N' Roses » The enigmatic Beavan album ('98-00) » 572 weeks ago
most of the people say there was 32-36 A-list finished songs...that is what shook down out of all the "ideas". This is consistent from Axl to Tommy to Bumble to Brain to Beaven right there in a recent interview to alot of others. Tommy specifically said there were 22 other songs done that didn't make it on to Chinese. Why is that hard to wrap your head around? The Chinese Democracy sessions boiled down to about 2 and a half albums of recorded material. Let's call it 2 albums and a few b-sides.

Maybe Axl is actually doing now what Brain thought he was doing during the recording of Chinese...
"...he's literally sitting there like King Arthur with seven chicks on his pipe."
