Oh, Vlad.
At least pollux might be interested in this:
http://frontpagemag.com/2012/02/17/symp … n-forever/
It discusses Putin's and FSB's influence in contemporary Russia, comparing it to KGB, with some juicy anecdotes, for example
All these nuclear weapons had been developed and manufactured in KGB-managed cities hidden throughout Russia. Not a single such secret town was listed even on the Soviet Union’s most highly classified maps.

It's the truth he's telling, but it's never the big picture. It's just one mans side of a situation that went down. Ask someone else, the manager for example, the core is still there, but the twist would be entirely different. And that's how it is with humans
This.
"It was not Axl's fault. He will tell you later. He was late to the concert and it got canceled by the promotion people who were scared that there would be another riot. It was silly because there was a riot anyway." (Fernando Lebeis, O Globo, 07/09/03)

It's cool that he addressed it, finally. It was in December, so prime time for virus-based illnesses.
I don't get why it is hard to believe he came down with something in the middle of flu season. Additionally, it was what was announced at the venue that night.
Read my post carefully.
You'll notice I never debunked Axl's story about getting sick.
I just pointed out some questions which arose/remain unanswered after Axl's little sound byte.
I wouldn't trust Axl's word to be gospel in this, because there's too much red-tape and litigation behind the 02 tour.
He knows more than he lets on, and even if it all boils down to the things he said ("it wasn't fur coats"), that's nice, but he's still to unveil the nuts and bolts which would absolve him.
That's why it was smart enough to apologize, because frankly, I'm fed up with the sharp contrast drawn by his hangers-on. Either people bow to him or they are the enemy.
Don't be too upset if his words don't hold up for scrutiny. He apologized and Philly accepted.

Going with that train of thought,
You go somewhere else, get drunk, cancel the show, go on a bender.
This would not be because of a fur coat. This would be because CC has put up a good chunk of money for a tour behind the most anticipated rock album in recent memory.
There is no album. There's an insecure Axl Rose in baggy shirts and sweatpants roaming the stages, if he shows up in time. Ticket sales have been below expectations, partially because of a no-album and the Vancouver riot.
The tour has picked up in the last few dates to bigger crowds and warmer reviews. The previous night at a sold-out MSG was a tour de force for the new band - but, apparently, still not as convincing towards ClearChannel as Axl'd hoped.
The stress is up and Axl would prefer to be back in the studio with his album than overhearing his management and CC reps having a go.
"The hell with this," he thinks and turns the TV on.

First off,
I think it's great Axl took the time to speak up and apologize. Must've meant a lot to him personally to get both Vancouver AND Philly off his chest as of late.
A few questions arise:
- If Axl was spotted at the Spa at 3AM, what happened between that and 6AM to make him cancel the show?
- Why didn't his management cancel the show in the morning, or at least summon a physician? Axl's best interests would've been served with a medical statement sent to the promoter.
- Why wasn't the band notified on Axl's condition, as according to Tommy's friend, they were in Philly ready to play that night?
- What was the issue ClearChannel were having in Florida? GNR was slated to play two dates there in the following weekend.
All accounts point to a degree of powerplay, but by whom and to what end, it's hard to say.

Yeah, that's the one.
"Axl Rose never got to the birthday party photographer David LaChappelle threw for his transsexual muse, Amanda Lapore, at Spa Thursday night (Dec. 5). The GUNS N' ROSES frontman arrived at about 3 a.m., but he was wearing a fur coat, and the club has a policy against fur. One of the women in Axl's entourage checked her fur at a nearby parking garage, but angry Axl stalked off as his friends went in to find Robert Downey Jr."
Then, the approximately right-on-the-money NY Times article in 2005 ran with it.
"The band went on a successful tour [in 2002], but in the hours after their triumphant Madison Square Garden appearance, Mr. Rose was reportedly refused entry to the Manhattan nightclub Spa because he was wearing fur, which the club does not allow. That killed the mood. He didn't show up for the band's next performance, and the promoter canceled the rest of the tour."

Or am I confusing it with another riot?
That would be Vancouver '02.

Who needs reunions, anyway?
Guest spots can be handy.
#1388 Re: Guns N' Roses » Feb. 19th, 2012 - House of Blues, Chicago, IL » 742 weeks ago
7 AFD songs and 7 CD songs.
I like that.
#1389 Re: Guns N' Roses » When's Album? » 742 weeks ago
Thanks for that.
Tommy's going to be in another state during the RRHOF, so I guess we can discount the new band performing with a full lineup.
