#1411 Re: Guns N' Roses » Alice's take on Axl » 843 weeks ago

Alice has staunchly defended Axl over the years on his show, I think he still considers him a friend. He has a point I suppose, but the last 15 years has been proof that Axl has done exactly what Alice suggests. When he didnt want to record the album he didnt, and when he didnt want to perform on stage he didnt.

Axl was also featured in the london metro yesterday, although the article wasn't particularly complimentary had a picture of him in a dustbin.

Coincidentally, that is also where I throw London Metro when I've read it. 16:haha:

Dude your supposed to leave it on the seat for the next guy, bad form.

The Metro is not bad actually, especially considering its free, it brightened up many a train journey for me in my college days big_smile

I fear for the rest of the CD sessions, I used to be as optimistic as anyone about a follow up album but now I'm more inclined to believe the music will be shelved permenantly.
You've got to wonder what Axls goals are now, he has a completly different band to the one that recorded the bulk of the music in the vault, and bizarrely hasnt recorded a note with them. Seems like the excruciatingly drawn out CD sessions have put him off recording completely, so where is he headed with this new line up?
Mabye at the end of this tour the camaraderie of the band will be something similar to the guys pre-Appetite, and they will hit the studio and their life experiences together and friendship will help them knock out new music much quicker and more organicly, than the forced companionship of the CD era.
I think it would do Axl the world of good to release some, raw, newly recorded balls to the wall, stripped down music, in the form of an ep or something. Forget the baggage of trying to make a Guns N Roses album that would satisfy the expectations of every critic in the world, and start releasing music just for the simple joy of making fuckin music.

Reads like a fan essay, but more power to them though for trying to counter the childish BS from NME.

I think I've figured out the whole going on late routine. Axls nocturnal, so when he goes on stage thats him just starting his day.
The whole, waiting on Axl to get in the right frame of mind song and dance, can be translated into waiting on him waking up, getting showered, dressed, breakfasted and do his vocal warm ups.
Its pretty simple, he's literally just outta bed when he goes on stage, and sometimes he sleeps in, so thats why he goes on stage sometimes more later than other times. Thats why you hear about him just leaving his hotel when the band have been backstage for hours.
And thats why Tommy says you wouldnt want him to go on before he's ready - think about yourself first thing in the morning, stumbling to the bathroom in a daze, scratching your arse, rubbing the sleep out your eyes - how on earth could you go on stage in front of thousands looking like that 14

Oh I agree, I was responding to John also.

Ever been in a crush at a gig? Theres more risks involved in the band waiting till the crowd is at boiling point before going on, than being hit on the head with a missile.

Its not me who should be making the effort to do anything about it. Whether ya like it or not, Axl Rose and Guns N'Roses have an obligation and responsibility to ensure these gigs they book and sell tickets for run smoothly, for the safety and security of fans, the band, venue staff etc.

But its GN'R, its always this way, so everyone else can go to hell?

Its getting to the stage where people are in real danger of being hurt. Thats not acceptable.

Shit, hope noone was injured. Have friends and family that work offshore and its very worrying when you hear of explosions and downed helecopters on the news.

My mate had a narrow escape a month or so ago, when he was walking across a platform in strong winds, a steel door came dislodged from a circuit box or something. This thing weighed 25 kilos and fell 150ft, it bounced off a railing feet from him and hit him on the shoulder, breaking his shoulder.
