Tom Mayhue (stage manager)

Like Stinson, Tom Mayhue is a real cool guy.
I'd listen to him longer.

More power to you, Ron.
You set a great example with your effort.

I actually like the way that they're doing the opening acts on this tour though. Each band for a few dates has a certain appeal over one or two bands for an entire tour. It's a good way to discover new things.
The devil is in the details.
We call him Irving.

I like the fact that they're revisiting Vancouver and (almost) Philly this time around.
Have a good one.

I may be off here, but I understand he only started taking care of his voice on the 21st century. The Tokyo 93 performance is an absolute travesty, and goes on to show how Axl (and the band) had taken a beating with the incessant touring and bad habits. In that sense, the current lineup is amazingly consistent in performance, and the dude himself is, what, two decades elder?
So yeah, credit to Axl & his crew where its due, but this YCBM discussion, as far as I'm concerned, is about him still being quite able to do the song the 'good' way - case in point, 2006, and that latter clip I posted had more of it already. However, as pointed out in this thread, jumping into too many conclusions based on the Rio clip isn't all that fair, as Ax is known to gradually improve his vocal performance once the touring routines kick in.
He can do it both ways, the raspy voice, which may be more taxing, and the clean voice, which sometimes borderlines comical. What I'd love is some kick-ass rasp on a studio recording, but I digress.

Here's something a bit more recent.
Recommended for the up, close & personal angle already.

Deffo.
His voice in 2002 mode is clean, but just weak. It's a sad condition for him.

"We're working on 32 songs, and 26 are nearly done," he says. Of those, 13 are slated for the final album. - Axl, 2006
Now, it's 14 + 22 = 36.

They played a bunch of clips and it was just typical media stuff; saying that Axl was lying every time he opened his mouth, etc. They really came down on Trunk for going so easy on Axl.
Just goes on to show that stupidity in PR happens on both sides of the fence. Some representatives of the press will always find a way into bashing Ax, no matter what he does.
At least Joe Q Public has been letting go of the Whacko Jacko mode some since 1999 (at which point Chinese Democracy would have been a mainstream darling due to the massive exposure it would've gotten.).
