Duane Allman kicks all their asses...period.

zep too...and for the record....that 2001 Rock in Rio version of "The Blues"....is still my favorite...a little faster paced...real energy...the album version sucks ass.

#1474 Re: Guns N' Roses » Slash and Paul Tobias » 670 weeks ago

they could have made a good album without a rhythm player...then and now...in my opinion.

#1475 Re: Guns N' Roses » Slash and Paul Tobias » 670 weeks ago

I want my guitar player to bust out guitar parts like Coma, Locomotive, Estranged...yep, Axl and Slash on their own could still be gold....don't even need Izzy involved. I do realize that what Izzy brought made them much more intersting. However, you can't discount just an Axl/Slash tune like the three I mentioned...and those are all Axl and Slash. So, Tobias really wasn't needed if Axl and Slash could have settled their differences.

Now, a Tobias/ Slash thing could have worked had they gotten along...like ID said, I would kill to hear Slash on TWAT, Catcher, IRS and Prostitute (songs that just so happen to be my favorite Chinese tracks). 9

So basically EVERY song is from 99-01?

I don't remember if sic answered this in Chinese Whispers but what became of the so called interludes that Stinson and Fortus mentioned working on in mid 2005? Not on the album obviously but if the ONLY contributions to the CD sessions after 01-02 are those "interludes"(2005) and Ron and Frank's needless additions(late 06-07), it says a lot about the work ethic and lack of chemistry after the 99 and 01 recording sessions. Also not surprising that the 2008-13 lineup has accomplished nothing music wise.

Say what you want about Bucket but as each nugget of info trickles out it becomes even more obvious that new GNR essentially imploded after he left.

what's up bitch? Glad to knowyou are alive...this thread went downhill quick. I agree with Buzz....Shackler's is not good. However, I think it is more Axl's chorus than the music. Axl's vocals on the chorus are awful.

Axl should have rerecorded Chinese Democracy in 2002 with him, Bucket, Richard, Tommy, Dizzy and Brain fuck Finck, Fuck Thal, Fuck Ferrer, Fuck Pitman they added absolutely nothing to the album.

wtf, Pitman is cowriter with Axl on Madagascar and If The World...Pitman has been there since 1998...and why fuck Finck? He has writing credits on 7 songs plus some pretty killer guitar parts on Better, TWAT, IRS, ET...ACTUALLY the whole fuckin album outside a few songs.

As far as I know, Finck has only one writing credit on  " Better " as good as his guitar work on that song is, something tells me that it would be much better with just Bucket on lead guitar same goes to the whole album. As for Pitman, yes, he has credit on " Madagascar " but I consider it moslty an Axl song. According to official booklet, Axl came up with that horn intro on synthesizers so, I don`t understand why did Pitman get credit for it. "If the World" is weak except Bucket`s solo. I don`t get what the hell is he doing in the band. I appriciate his work in " Lusk " but his place is n`t in GNR there already is one keyboardist, there`s no need for another.

gotta get your facts straight before coming here...writing credits have been discussed before...legally Finck has 7 credits...

I am in between...thought the 98-99 songs were good and then Bucket put the killer finish on them with his solos to make them great. People give Tobias shit, but the songs he worked on in 98-99 that I listed, I think, are the best songs on the album...the most Gnr like songs
