Nine songs leaked 2 months ago and they slept through it. A song coming out in a few weeks leaks(the normal timetable for a leak), and sycophants are screaming bloody murder.
That's actually a very good point. Why is SR leaking such a big deal and 9 leaks a few months ago something to just ignore? Is it possible SR is the only finished, recent version of anything to leak? Or even that those 9 songs aren't all going to be on CD?
I think that's probably exactly it, if someone (everyone now) has a finished SR it means there's possibly other finished album ready tracks out there. Perhaps it means a finished copy of the album is in the wrong hands.
The 9 song leak didn't exactly get ignored if the stories about the FBI are true.

Y Kant Tori Read is the name of the 1980s synthpop band (and their self-titled debut album), formed by now-famous singer and songwriter Tori Amos. The band consisted of Tori, singer-pianist Kim Bullard, and future Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum, as well as long-time Amos collaborator guitarist Steve Caton and various studio musicians.
The band released an eponymous album in 1988 before splitting, and received miserable sales; it is now one of the most sought-after Tori Amos collectibles, fetching upwards of $1,000 in compact disc format in original longbox. At the height of Amos' career vinyl copies would often sell for between $300-500, but due to the decline of music collectables and the heavy pirating of the record, they now frequently sell for between $50-80.

Shacklers Revenge
I've got a funny feelin' there's something wrong today
I've got a funny feelin' and it won't go awayI've got an itchy finger and there'll be hell to pay
I'm gonna pull the trigger and blow them all awayDon't ever try to tell me, how much you care for me
Don't ever try to tell me, how you were there for meI don't believe there's a reason (I don't, I don't believe it)
I don't believe there's a reason (I sure, I don't believe it)I've got a wicked demon here somehow never fades
I've got an empty feeling
I won't be home todayDon't ever try to tell me how much you care for me
Don't ever try to tell me how you were there for meI don't believe there's a reason (I don't, I don't believe it)
I don't believe there's a reason (I sure, I don't believe it)
I don't believe there's a reason (I don't, I don't believe it)
I don't believe there's a reason (I sure, I don't believe it)No one is stopping you from doing what you want to do
No one is stopping you now, stopping you nowI don't believe there's a reason (I don't, I don't believe it)
I don't believe there's a reason (I sure, I don't believe it)
I don't believe there's a reason (I don't, I don't believe it)
I don't believe there's a reason (I sure, I don't believe it)Note on the I don't believe there's a reason (I sure, I don't believe it) There are two Axls singing one high and one low, the higher axl sounds like he sometimes sings ' I don't believe you'
The chorus sounds like 'I don't believe in the reasons' to me
I also think the wicked demon chorus he sings 'he somehow never fades'

GNR's 'Democracy' To Be Retail Exclusive?
August 15, 2008 , 9:55 AM ET
Ed Christman, N.Y.
The June leak of nine allegedly "mastered, finished" tracks from Guns N' Roses' long-delayed "Chinese Democracy" spurred a renewed round of chatter about whether the Axl Rose-led band will finally release the 14-years-in-the-making album.
But some concrete signs are finally emerging that the album's release could be imminent. That's because, according to sources, negotiations are underway for "Chinese Democracy" to come out as an exclusive at one of the big boxes -- either Wal-Mart or Best Buy.
Negotiations are also ongoing to have conventional record company distribution, another source says.
Guns N' Roses is now managed by Irving Azoff's Front Line Management, and Azoff is a well-known proponent of issuing albums exclusively through retailers. He released the Eagles' "Long Road Out of Eden" through Wal-Mart, much to the chagrin of other merchants.
Most recently, it became known that AC/DC's next album will come out exclusively through Wal-Mart. Merchants were particularly incensed that the deal was apparently struck with the blessing of Columbia.
It's unclear who initiated the Guns N' Roses exclusive negotiations -- Front Line or Interscope, the band's label.
Representatives at Front Line and Interscope with knowledge of the situation couldn't be reached for comment by deadline. A Wal-Mart representative says the chain couldn't confirm this fall's exclusives. Best Buy representatives couldn't be reached for comment by deadline.

That picture looks sooo fake, it looks like a cardboard box with hair and fake eyes and teeth stuck on. I'd love something like this to be real but on that evidence this isn't that occasion.

A Private Eye wrote:Maybe you should also give it a full listen. You've always said Better and TWAT were you're favourites so I don't see why you wouldn't like this, give it a couple of spins, it's catchy as hell.
I fully plan to listen to the rest of it...like I said, it started sounding better when she made me turn it off, so I want to hear it all. I will get it added to my mp3 player this weekend and give it a full listen...probably a couple listens since the song seems to be growing on people, I want to be sure to give it a fair chance.
To be fair about Better, the less Pitman, the better...I don't like the versions that are over pitmanized (I made up a new word that only exists in GnR world). I really think if Axl could fire the effects guy and one of the guitarists and go to a purer form of rock music vs a cluttered form of rock music, I'd be a lot more receptive to the songs (as would the general public). The songs themselves probably aren't that bad, but the way the songs are put together (even the 2 I like) is awful.
I think you'll like it. As for Pitman he's definitely on the track a fair bit, but unlike the other leaks it works on this one, it doesn't feel over done or cheesy. There's still a lot going on in it but again it fits this time rather than just mashing everything together and seeing what happens this track sounds more deliberate, kinda like organised choas
It follows a pretty traditional rock structure too, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, solo, chorus.
I think of all the new GNR material we've heard this is probably the best track, obviously if I still like it in a few months that's a better indicator but right now I think it's awesome.

I only got to listen to the first 30 - 40 seconds before my wife made me turn it off. She said it was horrible. I agree to some extent, though I hold out hope for the rest of the song as Axl started to sound like Axl at about the time I turned it off. She loves todays top 40 stuff and her reaction is going to be the same as alomost everybody that likes this type of music. This song won't even get played on classic rock stations...it will be relegated to the 1 heavy metal station that exists only in the major markets.
This song is going to be a commercial failure. When was the last White Zombie/Rob Zombie hit? NIN? Anybody that plays industrial/alternative metal? I liked White Zombie (even saw them live in Chicago) and NIN, but please try to be somewhat realistic. If this was something new, it might (might) have a chance, but since it's all 90s influences, it has no chance whatsoever. It will have a cult following, that's it.
EDIT: Maybe I shouldn't be posting anything this morning...need coffee.
Maybe you should also give it a full listen. You've always said Better and TWAT were you're favourites so I don't see why you wouldn't like this, give it a couple of spins, it's catchy as hell.

MSL said weeks ago something was going to happen in GNR land around the time of the olympics and that China was important to it all. We assumed he meant an official release or something, it seems the leak's been planned a while.
I don't hear Robin on this track but it's not to say he's off everything though, there's no obvious BH moment on the Blues for example. This song doesn't need a bluesy Robin type solo, so credit to them for keeping it that way and not totally messing it up by putting in solo that isn't needed just because they have a guitarist (in this case Robin) stood round doing nothing.

I love it, catchy chorus, ballsy modern rocker, it gets a thumbs up from me.
I think it's SR, simply based off the description rockband gave. A rock track but kind of poppy and an industrial flavour and somone else said it was similar to Better or OMG, this song fits the description perfectly. I wouldn't fancy attempting to playing it on rock band though
