Trent was working on Ghosts at the time. Those albums were released in March 2008, and the story goes The Slip was written and recorded in the seven week period following that.

I'm more than willing to have a discussion with you; you're interested in trying to turn my thoughts on someones reaction to a concert to every single thing in life.
You said I was out of the discussion at one point, despite giving no indication in our prior correspondence that I had offended you in any fashion. After that, you began to taunt me. Not the most constructive way to show me the err of my ways.
I guess that's just it. It's not what I've been bitching about. I don't care about any of the rest of this. You never answered my last question. I respect the opinion you laid out in your initial post - you feel the new music isn't good enough and a reunion would be needed to restore Axl's creative force. That's completely fine with me.
How do those issues relate to a concert or a tour - which you say you don't care about in the first place? Axl can tour with whomever he wants, and the reception of those shows, as well as the overall sales of those shows, do little to affect your opinion on his new music, or what you perceive as the ultimate recording lineup, correct?
For someone who claims he doesn't care whether Axl tours or not and how well it goes, you debate a whole lot on the subject. If I ask you again, in plain words, would you consider yourself prejudiced towards the live band / performance due to your opinions regarding the absence of the original members / overall quality of CD songs?

True, and this is slightly OT, but I find the actual timing of Robin's resignation relevant based on the fact that he was accused of jumping ship to NIN again. Had he left months before the NIN thing actually happened, one'd think it carried less weight in his decision.

I got a phone call saying, "We've been looking for a guitarist for about a year and a half and we're trying to find the right guy. Would you be interested?
DJ was announced in March, 2009.
Pretty much suggests Robin was out for good in late 2007.
