i hate the whole "clutter" argument. just because there are multiple things going on in a song doesnt make it "cluttered." take a band like coldplay who synth the shit out of songs then have ten other things going on. seriously. go listen to viva la vida. please tell me people complained about that album being cluttered.

I still don't see how no. 3 in the US is a stiff. Ok i get it they didnt take over the world again like some people thought they would...but come on.

while CD might not go down as the success story a lot of people thought it was going to be, it is going to be pretty hard to dismiss it as a failure. it has sold a decent, tho not stellar amount of copies, and according to metacritic, 65/100 reviewers like the record. honestly, in this day and age, if you can win over half of the "critics" that listen to your record (especially when it is as avant garde as cd) you did something right.
so ya, did it live up to the hype, both commercially and critically? probably not.
but does that mean that it flopped? not quite.

ive heard IRS on the radio three times in the past week, and TWAT twice in one day on WAAF. as far as i know they weren't doing any promotional thing, just playing tracks they thought were cool. i enjoyed it.

i dont care who is releasing albums. for christ sake, the album was done, and they release it the week of black friday. when the hell are they supposed to release it?
its a good thing bands like metallica and acdc have released records recently. interest in rock music is higher than it has been in a while.

sounds to me like the manager of that particular best buy dropped the ball.

that doesnt mean that Axl and co. didnt drop the ball either, marketing wise.
Its starting to look like they cherry picked which stores to have these big displays in, or like you said its a store to store problem with them being too lazy to bother setting things up.
ya I'm almost positive, especially in New York, that that is a managerial issue. i find it hard to believe they would cherry pick Manchester, NH as a place to have a display.
