April Fools.
Then again, VR announced Weiland left on this day. Gladly, it wasn't a joke.

It's NOT Adler's Appetite without Brent Muscat!
...Oh wait, sure it is.

Never seen it before so thought I would share it, has anyone else seen it before?
Have seen it. I believe it's from around Axl's 2010 birthday.

I think Chinese would have been much better received as an Axl solo record.
Half a star to one star more in anyone's book.
However, people would've noted that while the production is like from a supercharged UYI III, there is not one 'above the cut' guitarist keeping it all together anymore. IMO, Axl needs lead guitarists as songwriting partners, which he now has in DJ (the little I like his adverts) and Ron, and he needs to allow them to rise to the occasion.

The guitar work in the studio version, outside of the solo - sucks. Disjointed, no feel, no direction.
The irony is, of such a great song like Catcher, it's the only song on the entire album, with maybe the exception of I.R.S. where the guitar work was so incredibly poor.
What he said.
Try listening to some of Catcher's isolated guitar tracks. There's some absolutely horrendous stuff in there. Some of it is obviously Robin's handiwork, but before anyone gets excited, let me say it's comped to death while someone tried to squeeze the umpteenth take into it. What we ended up with is Robin's guitar, love it or leave it, stitched together in Pro Tools.
IRS is pretty unredeemable, as well.

"Robin's departure was abrupt, sudden, you know, not expected [...] but at the same time, it's turned out to be a good thing. We've been able to push some of the guitar parts a step farther, that had he been here, it's not something that would have been considered, and I wouldn't have been rude enough to attempt to do that. [...] Robin's guitar will stay on some [of the re-recorded AFD tracks], but not all." (Axl, MTV, 11/08/99)
"Axl was feeling he that was in a difficult place, because the guitarist he'd been working with on this new album, [...] that'd done most of the tracks, had departed and Axl had a real emotional attachment to what he'd done, and yet [...] he didn't really want him to stay on the album because he'd disappeared, you know." (Brian May, Radio One Rock Show, 05/10/00)

Eversince Izzy left, Axl's had an uneven relationship with guitar parts by people not there anymore. Slash was the same, as were Robin and Bucket. There's obviously a lot of emotion there on Ax's part, and the way I read it, to him, listening to those takes would be like watching pictures of your ex-girlfriend. You may still love the person, but at the same time, it pains you to know that ship has sailed.

its funny how people can run their mouths and do whatever as long as it suits them but if someone posts a different point of view then for fucking shame...
Definitely. I guess you used the faggoty term without putting too much thought into it. Insults on a person can be roughly divided to degrade mental or physical capabilities or distinct features. While using the word 'faggoty', I take it you're not implying Robin's gay, but rather, suggest his outlandish wardrobe is something that could be related to the gay community. The problem is
Robin can dress however he likes...but its not for me and i still thought his image was stupid in gnr...
And that's a perfectly sound opinion on the matter. But when one ties negative connotations to the word 'faggoty', one relates sexual orientation to something [Robin] one feels is out of place / context within the structure [GNR] this something is represented in.
Get my drift here? Faggoty, outlandish, out-of-place.
fine then i'm a biggot...whatever you say
Didn't.
Originally, I was speaking in a general sense, mainly referring to a throwaway comment by Russ' friend, which, to me, had homophobic allusions. I wouldn't dare claiming his friend to be homophobic, as I've never met the man to begin with. The general subject (suspecting / detesting / abhorring the unknown and sometimes, de-humanizing or even demonizing it) is a matter deeply ingrained in the Western culture, and we as humanity still have a lot to learn about tolerance.
But I really want come down from the soapbox now.

In November of 02 when my buddy and I first saw Robin, during WttJ, my buddy leaned over and said "WHO'S THIS FUCKIN' FAGGOT??" but by the end of the show he was completely sold on Robin.
One thing I never quite got in some GNR fans: the Fashion Police routine.
Robin and Bucket were called names for dressing the way they do, which is something I always find a bit sad. Making degrading claims on someone's sexuality in regards to their outlook only highlights the fear of unknown in oneself and isn't actually that much different from racial discrimination.
For instance, Sophie Lancaster, a UK goth, was beaten to death in 2007 by jocks who detested her outlook. Her only crime was to look 'alien' in their eyes, and thereby, 'inhuman'. What ensued was your text-book hate crime. Shows how some people put much weight on familiarity, or lack thereof.
I sometimes think Axl picks his stage clothes at random anyway, so people in glass houses shouldn't really throw rocks.
D-Rail. Sorry.

yet another bizarre and frankly paranoid comment by Axl. I don't recall hearing anyone ever talk about Slash in relation to that solo. It was a leaked demo for crying out loud - there was a buzz that Brian May was on it for sure, but what was he expecting.
Just another example of how precious Axl really is about the album. He just had to go on record implying, "Brian's great, but really, Sean and I made that solo." His account was canned by May, who, for the record, has been consistent in saying that his solo was comped. He did a lot of that himself.
Those sessions were produced by Roy Thomas Baker, right?
Nope. Sean Beavan. RTB was "involved" in whatever capacity at that point in time, before replacing Beavan some months later.

It wasn't that I was a bad guy or that I had a big mouth, it was that I got into witchcraft and black magic and it ruined my life.
Didn't you used to be in Metallica?
