#1661 Re: Guns N' Roses » Bernadette New Bumblefoot Song Released January 18, 2011 » 799 weeks ago

This is cool for Ron to do.

Besides that, the story reminds me how creaky and down the wire the GNR organization was in the advent of the 2006 tour. Hiring a lead guitarist with everything booked, millions of dollars worth of contracts signed, etc. Leaving him a nine-day rehearsal window, having him learn the studio demos on the new songs on someone's laptop to prevent leaks (like Ron of all people would spill them)...

Abnormal was said to be about Merck and Ron's strained relationship to him. The more I read about these little nuggets of detail, the dawning image is that of a confused organization with an excessively expensive demo tape. Sanctury was bleeding cash into the album, Merck wanted the tour to recuperate the financing, Axl was almost happy with the album.

I can only imagine Ron walking into the room and mouthing the word; 'Fuck'.

DEL: When you and Slash aren't at each other's throats, you're really a force to be reckoned with.

AXL: Let me say something about us being at each other's throats: We haven't really been that way in the past year and a half. I love the guy. We're like opposite poles of energy, and we balance each other out. We push each other to work harder and complement each other that way.

We had a run-in in Dayton [Ohio], because both myself and Dougie thought he said something shitty to me onstage. That was the night I cut my hand to the bone. Backstage we have monitors much like the ones onstage, and while I was back there dealing with my hand, I thought I heard him take a potshot at me. I wrapped my hand up in a towel and was like, "Let's get it taken care of, so I can finish the show."

I came back onstage and was a dick to him and told him I'd kick his fucking ass in front of 20,000 people. That was fucked up. I was wrong, and I apologized the second I realized I was mistaken. Someone who is supporting me as strongly as he does is a hand I never want to bite.

However,

I can tell you with certainty that Lionel Ritchie was not featured in that issue of our publication.

So the interview was fake.

The rumor (along with the news that both Child and Axl were working in Curt Cuomo's studio in San Fernando) originated from Sp1at, IIRC.

But then who in their right mind would want to be the bloke who went to tell Axl he needed help writing a few catchy tunes?

Umm... Bob Ezrin?

You guys DO Realize that Desmond Child has consulted Axl on future Guns N' Roses songs, right?

I recall that was when Ax moved to Curt Cuomo's studio in early 2004. Child happened to be there recording, but didn't work specifically with Axl.

Devil's Knot by Mara Leveritt approaches the subject from the viewpoint of Satanic Ritual Abuse paranoia, a term well-covered by FBI agent Kenneth Lanning in his 1992 report.

Lanning's report is one of the most sobering accounts I've ever come across on the subject and should be recommended reading on text-books. If you're about to check out Devil's Knot, I recommend this text to get a better viewpoint on the argument in response to the atmosphere in Memphis, as well as the rest of the US.

Blood of the Innocent by Guy Peel, Marc Perrusquia and Bartholomew Sullivan is less defining by its own right and therefore, less conclusive, which is what you seem to be after more here.
