Hey Buzz regarding what you said earlier, I feel what your saying about wanting to see Axl before u die and its not just the vodka talkin. This could very well be the last substantial tour he embarks on, who knows what the future holds and he has proved that he can just call it off and walk away. Personally I think he is in a much happier place than he has been for a long long time and its probably not his swan song, but...u never know it could be.
Thats why I want to go to Reading, even if its gonna cost an arm and a leg and I have to pop my aeroplane cherry. He's not getting any younger and neither am I!!
Difference is I'm going hoping to be entertained and really dont care much for the setlist, and I dont have a scooby about the other bands playing setlists. I will attend and they will put on their show, as long as they all give 100% and make me feel part of something special, what songs they choose to play is immaterial, I will still have got my moneys worth if they put their heart and soul into whatever songs they choose to play.

Everyday and every night, its on at the mo. This album and UYI2 are my most played albums of the last couple of years, UYI1 gets a lookin now and then, AFD, Lies and TSI are almost forgotten. Mabye I should play em more, especially Lies and TSI.
As for AFD, I'm burned out on it, I prefer live bootlegs now (old and new)for my Appetite fix.
I was workin yesterday and was listening to my minidisc player (thats right, minifookindisc) and at the end of my copy of The Wall Live, the first batch of new gnr leaks unexpectedly came on and some live 02 soundboard recordings of CD, The Blues and Maddy. CD sounded weak, but Maddy and The Blues were beautiful.
Madagascar has recently been my favourite song and I've been playing it as much as possible, but it was particuarly awesome to hear the old 2002 version after so long. Anyway I found myself singing and whistling along to it, walking with a bit of a fuck u all swagger.
I felt buzzed and charged up with the message of defiance and emotion of the song- familiarity I think has lessoned the impact of the song since its premier in 2001.
I used to feel, and probably still do, bulletproof after listening to AFD - like I could take on the world without breakin a sweat. The passion Axl expresses in Madagascar brought back that feeling that I used to get reguarly with GNR and it was a welcome return.

Mabye the "bizness" will be the euro tour announcement, although there are some sporadic dates confirmed, there hasnt actually been an official statement. Werent the Canadian and South American dates all officially announced with an inventory of the scheduled venues and dates etc?

The only thing that crawls in my ass is the lack of playing TWAT. He has to know that is the new gnr fanbase's favorite track. It isn't that hard vocally either so I don't buy that excuse.
Its one of my least favourite songs and I dont really miss it much, but Axl obviously struggles with it, in the verses theres no space to catch a breath.
PS Frank cant do the drums right in the outro, he does the same simple fills over and over, whereas the album version drums are much more complex with extended, drawn out fills.
And IRS doesnt sound the same without Robin, I never realised how difficult his unconventional "feel" sound was to immitate, but DJ cant do Robins IRS parts justice
(yet, I suppose)

My intitial impressions were Axl was protecting his voice for the benefit of the year long tour, thats why TIL got moved to earlier on in the set, it saved him straining an already tired throat later on in the set.
But he could well just have been not up to performing the other new songs as they are vocally much more acrobatic than the old songs. I dont think it was out of laziness whatever the real explanation, if he was physically able to do 4 hour sets every night I believe he'd do it in a heartbeat.Because he did it 2 or 3 times? No, I don't buy that. I don't doubt he can't sing a lot of those songs live because of the complexity of the studio versions, but he chose to make them that complex, they didn't have to be. He couldn't pull have half of the stuff from the UYI tour live either, but it didn't stop him from trying.
Mabye he wanted to do them justice and didnt feel he could? Mabye he hates the songs and only wants to play the classics
Whatever the reason, its mere speculation. I dont know why your pretending to give a fuck about setlists at shows you didnt attend, your incessant whining and hostility towards Axl precedes you and yer intentions are without doubt wholly transparent.
Hey Buzz, when I fly down to Reading and GNR phone it in, denying me a good selection of CD songs, mabye I'll join you in your campaign of deep disapointment, till then it dont really matter...

Fair enough, its just that the docs told him that this was a "mild stroke."
