Watching that Batman movie from 1989 in the theater is possibly the worst theater experience in my life. A snooze fest straight from the gates of hell.
That's funny. I remember going to see this when it first came out in 1989 and I ended up falling asleep halfway through the movie. I think it was the part where the Batmobile made an appearance. To this day, I still can't sit through this film in its entirety. I don't know whether its Michael Keaton or the slow moving story but whatever it is I get restless. Now Batman Returns, I enjoyed that film although I really need to rewatch it since the last time I saw it was in 1991 when it opened up.
Don't get me wrong, there have been some masterpieces in the horror genre with excellent storytelling, but it seems like the only great filmmaking in the horror genre lately has been overseas, not here in North America
That seems to be the case as we've seen a ton of remakes by Hollywood of Asian horror flicks--The Ring, the Grudge etc. FWIW, I enjoyed The Orphanage (spanish horror film) since it was so darn creepy. I still remember that one scene where the old woman gets hit by a truck and a few seconds later her hand clutches up and she grabs the hand of the main character (sorry if this is confusing). I ended up yelling Holy Shit pretty loudly in the theatre. Lucky for me there were only 4 people there.

I know it's so fuckin' ridiculous. I hate Cena. With all my heart and soul.
He such a punk ass mother fuckin' company boy, as Vince, the puppet master, pulls the strings on that little asshole regularly. People talk about HHH, but he looks like rebel Sting, compared to Cena.
I'm kinda looking forward to his rumored match with Hogan at WM25 for its train-wreck potential. I bet the 50+ year old Hogan with a knee and hip replacement will have to end up carrying the match because the golden boy can't wrestle a decent match to save his life. I wonder if the crowd in Houston will start booing both guys when the match starts to spiral into a clusterfuck.
Regarding HHH, yeah he is an egomaniac who goes over most of the roster. But he genuinely cares about the business and the history that goes with it. He always seems to amp up his performance at WM to make sure people get their money's worth and I respect that even though some of his decisions I have problems with--the feud with Booker T and its implied racism as an example.
I'm pretty sure all of that crew did. Eddie, Chavo and Rey Rey
Rey got outed in September 2007 when the feds(or someone else) raided a pharmacy in NY and discovered a bunch of WWE guys filling prescriptions for steroids. This was right after the Benoit murders so the WWE suspended around 10 wrestlers. One of the stories disclosed that Rey's real name was Oscar Guitteriez.

Nah, I don't think he's leaving yet. More likely he'll wrestle HBK at WM then take a few months off. After that he'll come back and feud with another wrestler. Undertaker only wrestles a half schedule anyway.
When he decides to retire, you can bet that WWE will pimp the hell out of that. He was one of the few guys who resisted jumping when WCW was clobbering WWE in the mid 1990s--along with HBK. I think Vince always respected that loyalty. You can bet that he'll get that Vince will give him the royal treatment when he decides to leave.

#1695 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Duff: I love Axl Rose » 865 weeks ago
Yeah, but you guys know what i'm talking about. Time has apparently healed some of these wounds and the dust has certainly settled.
Duff is just so correlated to Slash, i'm curious in the present or future, would he leave behind Slash for GN'R under any circumstance. Obviously Slash would love to come back, but Mr. Rose has made it very very clear, that's not going to happen under any circumstances - ever.
I think he would consider it if Izzy was on board and if Axl released music at a faster pace and showed up at the studio. If it were just Axl, Duff and a whole bunch of other hired musicans then NO. He isn't connected to the hip with Slash. Plus he has a nice side gig with Loaded that provides something for him to do when there is GNR downtime. I think if Axl ever decided to run GNR like a real band where they rehearsed and wrote together as a cohesive unit then Duff would be on board Slash or no Slash. Duff mentioned in a summer 08 interview with that he misses writing melodies with Axl.

Glad to see HBK back to his old self also... The bit with Jericho and Hot Rod was really good too.
NYGiants82, what did you think about the PPV on Sunday? I thought the two elimination chamber matches were enjoyable especially the first one. It seems for the second year in a row an undercard match will take the spotlight at Wrestlemania: HBK vs Undertaker.
The Jericho stuff is interesting since they could go two ways with it: either Jericho continues to insult the "legends" and one of them challenges him to a WM match or Rourke shows up after the Oscars and gets involved with Jericho in a match of some sort. Whatever the case they have some time to string out the plotline.
In retrospect, the current WM card coming out of the PPV--with the title changes--is a lot better than I thought it would be:
Cena vs Edge--improvement on the uninspiring projected Cena vs Orton match
HHH vs Orton--there's the entire McMahon storyline plus the fact that HHH always brings it at WM and puts on a good show for the people.
Jericho vs ???--I think he'll be challenging a legend with the way the storyline is progessing, which one though?
Money in the Bank Ladder Match--this one never fails to disappoint. Shelton Benjamin will probably be in it as they like to use him for some sick spots.
Hardy vs Hardy--looking forward to this one as the intensity should be ramped up in the coming weeks. Sleeper pick for Match of the Night.
Christian vs Jack Swagger--meh this will be a piss break match.
HBK vs Undertaker--two legends colliding with UT undefeated streak on the line. That and Shawn will be bumping like crazy.

Ides of March since it sounds dark and ominous.
#1698 Re: The Sunset Strip » Von's TV Guide » 865 weeks ago
I have nothing against House, it just isn't my thing. I like heavily serialized dramas. Even shows like The Mentalist and Lie to Me, which I initially liked, became too procedural.
I agree with the comments about The Mentalist--it just gets too predictable. I never got into Lie to Mie. Regarding House though, I think it's actually more character study than procedural. But I'm not particularly fond of this season though.
Strat0, what are your thoughts about this season of House?
What about Damages, Von? It's multi-layered and almost Dickensian in plot and has a great cast.
Fortunately, with the return of writer Bryan Fuller, the creative upswing looks set to continue.
Did he leave Pushing Daisies after it got canceled?
#1699 Re: The Sunset Strip » The death of BitTorrent? » 865 weeks ago
To be perfectly honest, I've been using torrent sites with private trackers so I'm not as affected as much. Like Axlin08 mentioned just google searching for megaupload or rapidshare (or others) links can be just as effective. There's also zero chance of getting bad hash fails when downloading from links.
For those who download from isohunt I have a question: Weren't US users blacklisted from isohunt trackers?
#1700 Re: Guns N' Roses » GUNS N' ROSES To Play Italy In May Or June? » 865 weeks ago
As someone suggested many moons ago, the best thing GN'R could hope for now would be to become a U2 style band; releasing new music - although I regard U2's new music post that 2001 album as very mediocre in fact even forgettable - every couple of years, so functioning like that. Rumours are they certainly already have the material to do so....
Others have suggested a more NIN-type direction. When Ben Jones, a DJ on Absolute Radio UK, was introducing 'Better', he said:
'Forget the wait. Forget how much it cost. Just forget all that. It's just a great rock song. [Fair call IMHO.]
'No Slash. No Duff. No Izzy. Just Axl. This is new from Guns N' Roses. This is called "Better".'
Like NIN is just Trent. Not even a mention of Buckethead (though I am sure he knows about him), Finck, and all the other talented musicians who helped create this music. This is repaying Tommy's loyalty?
The problem with these options is that it goes counter to what we know about Axl's habits. Option 1 requires him to release material once every few years. But as we all know it takes him a long time to produce and tweak the music to his liking. It's taken him more than a month to produce a Better video. Maybe this will change with Azoff as his manager but I doubt it. Axl has to have some sort of incentive to release material quickly otherwise he will sit on his thumbs and be deliberate when it comes to his material.
The NIN option is a lot more interesting to consider but ultimately would require a whole lot of work from Axl. First and foremost he will have to totally overhaul the current website. He would then have to provide video clips/audio content in conjunction with any major release. I think he could provide updates on any album/music via chat on any of the major GNR forums; so that would not be a major problem. I just don't see him as the type to provide entire albums for downloading to the general public. I can't really explain why but I just don't see him going this route.
I think we'll all have answers around June though as that is when BB exclusive deal expires. Plus, we should see whether this Italy rumor is true or the usual BS.
