I'm not fond of this kind of thing. Yeah its meant to be funny, but it makes a mockery out of the whole thing. Like when Hulk Hogan ran for President and Gary Coleman ran for Governor of California.

There's no way in hell the current lineup is recording old GNR songs for CD. Thats way too fucking stupid and unoriginal. If Cd is gonna have 15 tracks, how can CITR still be up in the air? There's no way in hell Better is from 2005. I also don't agree about BH and Huge being excluded from the album. I am sure BBF is on the album as well, but they have not done enough recording to remove BH from the equation.
The only thing he says thats believable is 2008 possibly not being the year.

Although these two teams ahve the inside track right now...I have a feeling niether of these teams will represent the NFC in the superbowl. It will be a team right now that is capable of playing a lot better than they are and is able to keep the turnovers down. I think Minnesota may be on the verge (perhaps not this season) as well as Tampa. I still think Chicago is in it...they, more than any other team, have beaten themselves with massive turnovers and self-inflicted team psyche damage.
Chicago is pretty much out of it.They fucked away this season by letting Jones get away, and by not benching Grossman during preseason. They have a lot of decisions to make in the offseason, and what choices they do make will effect this franchise for many years to come.
In the AFC, we know NE or Indy are pretty much locks for the SB, but these teams are legitimately in the playoff hunt:
Steelers
Panthers
Ravens
Titans
Browns
Texans
Chargers
In the NFC, it is wide open:
Packers
Cowboys
Bucs
Skins
Giants
Panthers
Eagles
Cardinals
Seahawks
Lions
Vikings
Bears

Green Bay isn't overrated. They have a very good defense, and an offense that can score points. The problem will be the running game. Eventually, it will come to haunt them. I have watched all their games this year, and they can not run block for shit. Good team though.
And the NFC doesnt suck. They are no different than the AFC, with the exception of having the ELITE teams. The AFC has New England and Indy. The NFC doesnt have an elite team like them. Doesnt mean they suck.
The AFC's second tier teams are better than the NFC's. There is a difference between the conferences, although I do agree with you and Pasnow that the whole league is getting pretty damn close to an even playing field.
#18045 Re: Guns N' Roses » How much is Axl worth? » 949 weeks ago
He definitely isn't worth billions. He has never made any richest celebrities lists, so he doesn't come near being worth hundreds of millions.
He most likely has tens of millions, and probably still earns a few mil every year on sales from AFD, merch, etc.

Not sure how we got onto this topic but... I love 2 Matchbox albums, and like their middle one alright too. If I were making a rock band from any and every musician around today I might have Rob Thomas front it.
I wouldn't let him front it, but I'd sure let him write a few hit singles.:butt:

I can pass on the live album, although I will most definitely buy that box set when its released. I loved White Zombie, although I never really got into his solo material much.
Astro Creep is one of the most underrated albums of the 90's.

Dead Skin Mask
Mandatory Suicide
South of Heaven
Neil Young

It really is sad. There was an entire culture built into that system that helped the record companies. They made a very short sighted choice to kill that off.
Here's the way I look at it:
If you were Mr. Average Consumer and went looking for "that song by that band" at a record store, you would not only find it but be directed toward other material like it you may not have known of. You also would've had a back other material by that artist you didn't know existed. Who knows, you maybe would've seen posters or merch that you liked from other artists you'd never heard of while you were there and looked into them as well. All this before you even factor in hearing some music playing overhead that isn't being pushed at you from all directions (VH1, radio, etc) that you might actually enjoy and purchase.
Somewhere along the lines, the record labels decided that selling copies of their new releases en masse to Best Buy and the like for far cheaper would result in even more first week sales. Which, as I said before worked just fine for a couple of years. But with that choice came the aforementioned death of the record store and the start of the fall of the record industry as we knew it.
Connected? I think so.
Yeah, there's definitely a connection. The record stores started dying in huge chunks by the late 90's, and other than the manufactured artists like Britney, NSYNC,etc., album sales started to drop as well. Now sales are in a downward spiral never to recover.
One other thing about the record stores was it was a more personal experience. You could talk to the people in there, and they actually knew something about music. I told this story at HTGTH ages ago, but one time I was in that record store and they had a giant poster of Axl singing at the Ritz on their wall. The dude knew I was a huge GNR fan and he gave it to me. That would NEVER happen in this day and age.
You were a person in those stores. In Wal Mart, Best Buy,etc., they consider you a mindless bot with a wallet.
Besides record stores, another industry killer is CD prices. In the 21st century there is no reason for cds to cost almost twenty bucks. Its a scam and everyone knows it.
Its like the industry is giving two choices:
1. Go into your local Wal Mart and buy one cd from an artist for $14.99
2. Go into your local Wal Mart and buy 200 Cd-rs for the same price, allowing you to burn cds containing thousands of songs for free.
I'll pick option 2.

Cobain isn't overrated.
I meant underrated.:butt:
That top 100 list is terrible. At least they had the decency to put Thayil on the list.
