Obviously you weren't around or have already forgot www.gnronline.com

"News about Chinese Democracy coming soon".

THAT was shameful. It was so bad it could make ANYONE cry.

When GNR.com was launched I was like a starved and tortured person being introduced to McDonalds for the first time. It was a relief.

I've been around almost 10 feckin years sadly. GNRonline sucked, but at least nothing was happening in that time. All the same though, its apples and oranges, both sites are an embarressment hmm

Thank god for the fans who built sites like this, and almost all them manage to keep them up and running without prostituting themselves yada yada - almost all of them 16

My bad, there's 2 RIR festivals in Europe:

http://rockinrio.com/

Lisbon and Madrid at the end of May and beginning of June. That would tie in with a Eurpean leg of the tour after they played South America in Feb/March.

did you guys ever try that alt tracklist that was published on here a month or 2 back?
the one with CITR & with a different running order (& with Stardust & The Lies They Tell)?

i think it's an even better album. seems to flow better - seems more accessible, like Shacklers makes more sense after Riad & the introduction of the new band with 3 rockers is more assertive..
it's the version i listen to these days... i've never been keen on CITR and that situation has only exacerbated with CD's release.. and also because my actual CD cd needs replaced, already!

I'm used to the sequence now, I made up a alternate version at first with what I thought was a better flow. But now I actually like the way the album version runs, I think Sorry kills it a bit though, that song sticks out like a sore thumb.

I dont think mysteron's comment mean a whole lot, I dont know what he is apologising for either, unless something was deleted, its hardly the revelation of the century, more like a half baked excuse.

About the website Axl said in the chats:

Q: -Any plans on updating the website to make it more...fan friendly?  And what ever happened to the fan club thing?

A: I’ve started (again) recently to make an attempt to try and get something going there. It’s been extremely frustrating. I’ve had ideas but former management went with theirs. Previous to what we have now I’ve consistently had others attempt to pressure and railroad me into working with others that I chose not to as it was more about managerial control than a good website and not in my best interest so the ideas get shelved and it generally just sits there. Plus as frustrating as it was for everyone it was not time to talk publicly. So it gets consistently shelved.

Whatever their excuse is, its weak. They could have a kickass alternate website up and running in a week if they wanted to, but the truth is they dont want to. The fans are left scraping around for any sliver of information they can get, and rely on other fans to make up bootlegs and videos etc.
I spent some time checking out websites of other big named bands yesterday and it was pretty depressing stuff, even bands I didnt like their websites were that impressive and interesting I found myself checking out everything, listening to audio and watching videos. GNR.com is shameful and sums up perfectly how motivated gnr are when it comes to their fans.

I have a poster on my wall from the aborted 2001 tour and it has gunsnroses.com on it, that site site never went online till 2006, so who owns the name? Someone had it in 2001, I assumed it was gnr.

Morrissey stopped a concert halfway through the second song after he was hit by a missile thrown from a member of the crowd in Liverpool.

The former frontman of Manchester band The Smiths recently resumed his tour after collapsing three weeks ago.

During his song, Black Cloud, at the Liverpool Echo Arena on Saturday, the 50-year-old was hit in the eye by a plastic drinks container.

The singer said "goodnight" to the 8,000-strong crowd and walked off.

Morrissey had opened the concert with the words: "It's Saturday, it's Liverpool, it's raining, it's perfect", before launching into the Smiths' hit This Charming Man.

" He's a 50-year-old man who has just been ill and he deserves better than that "

Iain Kavanagh
Concert-goer

But when he moved to shake the hands of fans at the front, the bottle was hurled from the crowd.

When he walked off stage fans burst into chants of "Morrissey, Morrissey, Morrissey" in an effort to get the performance back on track.

But about five minutes later an announcement was made to a chorus of boos that he had been hit on the head and would not be resuming the concert.

Jay Silker, 27, from Mossley Hill, Liverpool, said: "If there's ever a singer who would not take kindly to a bottle being thrown at him, it's Morrissey."

Iain Kavanagh, 33, from Liverpool, said: "Some people were complaining afterwards because he's been in the game for years and he should be used to it by now.

"But he's a 50-year-old man who has just been ill and he deserves better than that."

Concert-goers have been advised to contact their ticket retailer to find out if they will get their money back.

Ever thrown anything at a stage? I cant understand this behaviour, I've seen it at almost every show and....why???
I say almost every show, cause I've never seen it happen in really small venues where the weasle has no hiding place.

Cool, it'll be intresting to see how many other latin countries potential dates start appearing. Did the old band ever play in Peru? Looks like Brazil will finally get its long rumoured show, I think Rock In Rio returns to Rio next year, as well as the European RIR show.
One of my life ambitions is to visit Peru and walk the Inca Trail, I've been wanting to do it for the last few years but I never manage to save enough money. Hopefully next year will be better and I could do it in 2011 smile

#1847 Re: Guns N' Roses » how are the shows selling this time around? » 887 weeks ago

I dont think any big bands will touch GNR purely because of Axls tardy reputation. The Eagles Of Death Metal guy said even though they were kicked off the tour, they got their payment for the entire tour upfront because its the only way bands will agree to go on tour with Axl because of the risk of riots and cancellations. I reckon they are limited with who they choose as support acts, as bands ask for a lump sum upfront, and the bigger the support band, the bigger the payment.

U2 bore me to tears, I cant fathom who the people are who buy their albums cause I've never met anyone who admits it.
In 5 years living away at college, parties every other night, making new friends and swapping all kinds of music and hearing all kinds of music at parties - I never heard anybody mention them or produce a cd to put on the stereo. I've actually had the conversation over a few beers many times, how in the hell can a band producing such mundane music be so popular?  Who buys this shit? Buggered if I know hmm

#1849 Re: The Sunset Strip » FAO Pink Floyd Fans » 887 weeks ago

No Animals was the album before The Wall, coming after Wish You Were Here, Dark Side Of The Moon and Meddle. Those were all from the classic Floyd line up, Syd's time was before them.

I like this interview with Kurt Loader, its funny how 10 years down the line what he says about Chinese Democracy is still relevant to the album we got, and to what he and Pitman said last year about the more experimental style of the follow up album.

http://home5.swipnet.se/~w-52838/Aritcl … lRose.html

Loder:

This "End of Days" track, "Oh My God," is real, real different. Have you been listening to [or] working with samples and stuff a lot? Has your whole musical approach changed?

Rose:

No, not a lot, no. Basically, [I'm] listening to everything that's out there as far as music goes. That was a big difference between myself and Slash and Duff, is that I didn't hate everything new that came out. I really liked the Seattle movement. I like White Zombie. I like Nine Inch Nails, and I like hip-hop. I don't hate everything. I don't think everybody should be worshiping me 'cause I was around before them.

So once it was really understood by me that I'm really not going to be able to make the right old-style Guns N' Roses record, and if I try to take into consideration what Guns did on "Appetite," which was to kind of be a melting pot of a lot things that were going on, plus use past influences, I could make the right record if I used my influences from what I've been listening to that everybody else is listening to out there. So in that sense, I think it is like old Guns N' Roses as far as, like, the spirit and the attempt to throw all kinds of different styles together. If you get to the second guitar solo in "Oh My God," Paul's doing a very Izzy Stradlin-Aerosmith-type riff in the middle of the song, which is a completely different thing than everything else that's going on in the music, but yet it blends. There's a disco drum beat in the post-chorus, in the heaviest section of the song. We blended a lot of things.

Rose:

The record will be about, anywhere from 16 to 18 songs, but we recorded at least two albums' worth of material that is solidly recorded. But we are working on a lot more songs than that at the same time... in that way, what we're doing is exploring so, you know, you get a good idea, you save it, and then maybe you come back to it later, or maybe you get a good idea and you go, "That's really cool, but that's not what we're looking for. Okay, let's try something new." You know, basically taking the advance money for the record and actually spending it on the record.

Loder: [Laughs] Not always the case, obviously.

Rose:

No, and I don't want to be in a situation again where I have to depend on other people and have [to] start all over. So we have material that we think is too advanced for old Guns fans to hear right now and they would completely hate, because we were exploring the use of computers [along with] everybody really playing their ass off and combining that, but trying to push the envelope a bit. It's like, "Hmm, I have to push the envelope a little too far. We'll wait on that." So we got a list of things.

Loder: Are you involved in computer music yourself? Are you playing guitar now?

Rose: A little of both, a little of both.

Loder: How's your guitar playing coming along now?

Rose:

It's all right. I just wanted to be good enough to be able to contribute what was needed to this main album. It took working on the majority of these things and at least the couple albums' [worth] of material to figure out what should be on the first official Guns album. I wouldn't say it's like, you know, that we recorded a double album, or that we have all of our scraps to be the second one. There is a distinct difference in sound. The second leans probably a little more to aggressive electronica with full guitars, where the first one is definitely more guitar-based.

Loder:

People that hear "Oh My God," they might say that, "Gee, the new Guns is all this sound," but I think that what you're saying is that it's a bunch of different kinds of sounds.

Rose:

It's a lot of different sounds. There's some other really heavy songs, there's a lot of aggressive songs, but they're all in different styles and different sounds. It is truly a melting pot.

I go back to listening to Queen -- you know, we're still hoping to have Brian May come in and do some tracks, and I got a fax today that he's coming in -- Queen had all kinds of different-style songs on their records, and that's something that I like. 'Cause I do listen to a lot of things, and I really don't like being pigeonholed to that degree, and it's something that Guns N' Roses seem to share [with Queen] a bit. With "Appetite," even though it seems to have the same sound, if you really go back, you can pull all the little parts from different influences. That's not really the case by the time we're on "Use Your Illusion." People are kind of set in their ways. ["Chinese Democracy"] is coming from all over the place.

That last line is so true.
