#1891 Re: Guns N' Roses » North American Tour Stats for new Gnr » 715 weeks ago
The long and short of it is that the band is now a solid theatre act in the US. They are a solid arena act outside of the US with stadiums possible in Asia and South America.

You're quite right. Both went through a lot during that era. Axl, for instance, had some major changes of opinion during that era.
My father likes "Welcome to the Jungle." Ten years ago, if a song like that was caught in our house, man, it was over. But I can't hold how he once felt against him. - 1989
My stepfather is one of the most dangerous human beings I've ever met. - 1992
I'm mentioning this, as - while we all know Axl's insistence on regression therapy, which evolved into Yoda - he seemed to have a fairly cordial relationship with his (step)father up to a point.
I may be at a loss here, but it strikes to me as sycophants jumping in on a payday, feeding up his insecurities and systematically alienating him from the people around him.
Obviously, Slash would've gotten much of the same, although people would've likely focused on catering to his indulgences more than with Axl. Ax's the one who always felt good playing head games - only he wasn't good enough.
He's been good enough to sell 100 million albums and somehow manage to still make a pretty nice living. The reality is he has been a very successful businessman. I'd take his paycheck and assets.:peace:

Watching reruns of my life
When you reach the point of breaking
Know it's gonna take some time
To heal the broken memories
That another man would need
Just to survive

Sometimes we get so tired of waiting
For a way to spend our time
An "It's so easy" to be social
"It's so easy" to be cool
Yeah it's easy to be hungry
When you ain't got shit to lose
And I wish that I could help you
With what you hope to find
But I'm still out here waiting
Watching reruns of my life
When you reach the point of breaking
Know it's gonna take some time
To heal the broken memories
That another man would need
Just to survive

Just your opinion.
5 of those shits over most Chinese songs, the rest does not. My opinion.
I am happy to see some new band fans. I like Chinese but I find the Illusion era much better. That is why I am so pissed we can't hear the rest of the Chinese sessions because the game would get much tighter. I honestly believe the leftovers could be better than Chinese....and that is because I truly believe Chinese ended up being the leaks album.

In the end, neither Slash nor Axl (or Izzy for that matter) have written anything solo that comes close to matching what they did in Gnr. Tejas, now you are just getting me pissed!

yep.....it just shows you REALLY what went on when you get quotes from the actual time it was happening. For example, Gilby backs Axl's claims by saying Duff rejected the Snakepit songs as well. Gilby says it in real time May 94 then Axl chimes in about it 5 years later. (but people claim everything Axl says is bullshit-which is just not true). Slash wanted control and Axl wanted control. Simple as that....classic case of rock and roll egos. The name issue then finally was the straw that broke the camels back in 1996.
