Cool.  I didn't get out until afternoon so any of the exclusives I had any interest in were gone (or didn't even make it out my small-ish area) so I just picked up a couple older things while I was out.

I hope this does lead to Punk/Lesnar teaming up for a new Dangerous Alliance. Once they started doing the bits about Paul Bearer there was no way Punk was going to win. Everyone knew it. And I think that killed some added heat the match would have had.

I read something last night that said they at one point were considering having CM Punk win, but he has some nagging injuries and is probably going to take some time so there was no reason to give him a bunch of momentum.

Now, that was something that I read about pro wrestling on the internet... so take it with the appropriate grain of salt.

Listened through earlier today.  I like it, but there are some questionable choices (the first track not sounding like the rest of the album is the first that comes to mind) but I'm looking forward to actually picking it up and giving it some more listens.

Been getting ready for St Patty's Day a little early

I'd go to a Kenny Rogers song just to hear Coward of the County live. Never has a song about gang rape been so widely accepted!

Check out the lyrics to Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town too.  A little more there than the gentle chorus melody would suggest.

Shooter released a video for the song "The Other Life" today.

This is only marginally Shooter related, but there probably isn't a ton of interest in this around here, so this is probably the best place for it.  Shooter is playing the Farmageddon Records Fest this year (he did last year too)  They put out a free sampler you can download of artists that are going to play the fest.  There isn't any Shooter on there, but there's a bunch of good stuff if you're into the alt-country thing.

I went last year.  I didn't end up picking up any of the special releases, or even any vinyl of any kind, but the store had a sale on used cds too, and I picked up a bunch of those.

I'll be going again this year even if none of the special releases interest me.

So how do festivals work? 'Cause i've never been to one, and I don't know the difference between a big festival and a small festival. There's a small festival i've been thinking of going to, and it's supposed to start at 8:30 on a Friday.

Now does it last all through the night, or the weekend? Or is it different bands on different days? I have no clue how this shit works.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The short answer is that it really all varies based on the festival.  Just research the specific one you're going to and see how they work it.

I'm going to a small alt-country festival in a couple months and this one is set up different than most in a few ways.  This one has two stages, but they're not having music on both stages at the same time.  Most of the time multiple sets are going on at the same time so you have to pick and choose who you want to see.

Unlike what Metallex mentioned about Metallica, be prepared for the bands you want to see most to not play the full set that you'd see them play if they're playing on their own.

You mentioned overnight, I went to Woodstock 94, and after the bands ended they had a weird rave thing that went on all night if you wanted to stay up and check it out.  But that fest involved everyone camping too, some small multiple day ones will kick you out at night and make you buy tickets for each day.

8:30 AM or PM start?  Really either one seems odd to me. What's the festival you're thinking of going to?

Oh, and one thing that ain't so great, is the queues for food, toilets and the bar... 10

But overall, music festivals are really great fun though.
The whole vibe of being outdoors with the sun shining down on you, and rocking out to your fav band, is awesome! 9

And that^
Lollapalooza 96, it was around 100 degrees and humid and 12 ounce bottles of water were $3.00.  Both brutal and ridiculous, but my memories of the day are mostly great.

I've always found it kind of funny and maybe a little sad that EVH inspired thousands of kids to pick up the guitar, but his style is so specific that none of them can play like him because they'll be accused of ripping him off.

That's also part of why I like Slash so much more.  Blues bases is versatile and can slide in anywhere, it's just his tone that's so iconic and can be pretty quickly recognized in whatever he's playing on.

Weiland sucks, always has. But at the same time, what will happen of STP? STP basically IS Weiland.

Weiland has always been one of those artists I enjoy, but I have no arguments for someone who thinks he sucks.

The best I'd have is everything you'd say I'd reply "You're right... but still...".
