thread has very few posts...imagine that. Duff talking positive about Axl.

Ha big_smile, the masses would rather hear about Steven Adler calling Axl an arsehole for the umpteenth time.

I was chuffed as well to see the drumming getting praise from Duff, he likes to play a bit of percussion himself so I think its even more awesome that Duff digs it.

Izzy mentioned in a few interviews how things were so much tougher for Axl cause he was the most famous person on the planet in their heyday, and couldnt really do any normal day to day activities or go anywhere. He also mentioned Axl got death threats over some things, One In A Million being one, and he was paranoid about getting shot.

But I could just be giving the haters too much credit 16

#2043 Re: Guns N' Roses » DJ Ashba » 892 weeks ago

I heard a sixx:am song that was ok, the solo had a good ring to it, I like his tone. I could see DJ being the guy who handles the If The World solo, I think it would suit his style best of the 3 guitarists.

How would people feel about DJ taking on Buckets Twat solo? Could he pull it off, or is Bumble the only one qualified?

If Richard is still going to play the Maddy solo, I hope he irons out the kinks or tries something different with it, his past effort didnt sound good. Give him the Street Of Dreams solo, I reckon thats more up his street.

Apparently Ozzfest is returning in 2010. Axl should look into being the headliner for this. I think new GNR could thrive in a festival environment as it takes a lot of pressure off them to fill the venues.

Could possibly be a rough crowd for obvious reasons, but leave the piano at home and concentrate on the more rocking tracks and they could pull this off.

I'd actually prefer them to play the big general music festivals than hard rock/metal festivals, too many meatheads and punk kids trying to show off by taunting Axl.
On the Download Festival forum in the build up to the 06 show there were people trying to encourage the mass throwing of objects at the stage during GNRs set.

On another note, it would be amazing if they did something like this for the upcoming tour, pretty damn unlikely though:

My old dealer had one of those, it was very placid and friendly. You'd come out his house covered in white hair though.

I had a thought last night that mabye Robin was a bit sloppy live and made those odd head and body movements, cause he was on stage drunk as a skunk.

True, I was exagerating a tad big_smile  But I still think it will do well in the present climate of pro Slash sentiment, especially from much of those in the media who were crying out for Slash when they were supposed to be reviewing CD.
I'm not taking anything away from how it would be recieved on its own merits, it has a great line up and could well have a smash hit within. But I think the timing of it couldnt be better, theres a significant amount of demand for Slash in pop culture right now, purely on account of the recent Slashless GNR album.

Cool interview, thats what happens when he gets interviewed here as well - folks just wanna talk about GNR.

Were Slash and him not quite scathing about Scott in not so distant previous interviews?

no Robin in that promo clip at all....don't think that is coincidence. Also, Better was written by Finck so by not amping up the single, you cut his publishing money.....tis possible.

He is in it, up on the drum/pitman platform shaking about behind Tommy in a couple of shots.

Oh well, I still think I'm on to something though 14

Basically my prediction is Slash is going to play like motherfucker on his album to stick 2 fingers up at Axl, and whatever he puts out will be met with near universal praise.
I'm not knocking him, I pretty damn excited to hear Slash playing again with a burning desire to prove himself great.
