Typical French.
Cheese eating surrender monkeys.
Greatest sports come back ever/worst bottle job in sports ever.
I watched it with a level of bewilderment that bordered on stupid, a heightened WTF state of mind. It took a couple of hours to unwind & come down from.
It sounds ridiculous but Barca actually didn't play that well! PSG were just THAT bad, just fucked up that badly, kept gifting Barca goals. Then the ref got duped by Suarez. But it was crazy defending from PSG they just panicked & every decision they made was the wrong one & everything went wrong.
Even still at 3-0 I felt PSG just needed a goal & the tie would be over. And once they got it I was willing to give up and stop watching, I thought it was over. & in fairness so did most of the Barca players - Messi pretty much stopped trying & went into a sulk for example. & PSG had two 1-on-1's before Neymars free kick they should've scored from.
Football. Fucking hell.

How'd you get on with the assembly election Atari?
Fuck the DUP & Sinn Fein & fuck the sectarian fucks who vote for them.
Another fuckin vote I'm on the losing side of again yesterday! Jesus it was a bad fuckin day.
I had actually started out optimistic enough. I thought the increased turnout would reflect a change & some proper disgust/protest vote at the DUP Brexit/RHI scheme. I finished the day pretty dismayed and angry. Not so much at the corrupt careerist politicians, but at the bigotry they're able to inspire in people. The people in this place depress the shit out of me. Honest to Christ what a fuckin horrible place. People are the worst.

[ Paul must've looked good on a photo that day.
This cracked me up.
Great thread. Mind boggling/blowing.
They (Slash & Axl) really did not have a handle on their emotions. So embittered over relatively frivolous CRAP that escalated in ridiculous and bizarre fashion. There was no common sense to any of it. A pretty puerile divorce all told. What a fuckin waste.
As an aside/alt history/speculation: if Slash doesn't do Snakepit, does Axl still find cause to fuel the split? If Slash continues to appease Axl where would it have led?

It's Friday, everyone. Dive in and find the monkey.
I disappeared down the rabbit hole this morning after reading your & apex's posts, combing thru articles all the way back to '87. Fuck. Total waste of a morning.
Why should any of them ever do anything again?
These are street kids we are talking about ... little to no education that made it huge in a 4 year span...
If it were me I'd have retired a long fucking time ago lol ... want something from me? Too fucking bad Cya ...but he had a contract to fulfill
I think Axl underestimated chemistry and commraderie in those "lost years" as a group of urchins living under the street they had nothing to lose and tons of ambition
As millionaire Rockstars they didn't need to do anything else...he maybe assumed/hoped that the new group he brought in had the same drive and chemistry...they didnt and neither did he so i think shit just got put off endlessly
No, I get that. I'm just saying that I think that was actually part of it, part of the reason for CD's gestation. In fact I think it was part of the plan - part of the point of [him] wanting to be a rock star is to live on his/your own terms. It partially explains the lack of momentum.
One of the reasons I was trawling thru interviews this morning is because I vaguely remember Axl saying something along those lines way back. I'm pretty sure it was about AFD & how he wanted to make one album that would have a lasting impact. I thought it was from a Sylvie Simmons interview but the closest thing to it I can find is the Mick Wall piece from '91 where he says if things go right "we won't have to make another album for 5 years". 5 years!
My point was he had maybe/obviously(?) reached a level of success/financial comfort that contributed to the problems, & that was in his nature from the get go.
The fire's long since gone out.
Makes me doubt his sincerity: if he'd really cared he'd have found a way to get music released.
Easy to point fingers and blame record companies and suits. But if the energy is dulled then you're already on the backfoot.

At least we can carry on conversations by using highly unusual semantics.
That is brilliant. So funny & true.
Robin was the one who personally apologized the fans for the early cancellations on that tour. Again, Robin was already burned by the '06 non-release. And the ones before it. He posted a gothic image of angelic voice in a haunted house after the '02 cancellations. The message was clear; Axl refused to catch a break.
Anyone have a copy or link to this pic? Closest I can get is http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/news/news024.php Nov 17th link, but it's a dead end.

Republicans (and Sessions) are started to cave in to "recusing" him, whereas now Dems have moved onward to "resigning". lol, funny how it happens that way.
All part of the game. Democrats call for harshest punishment & paint it in worst light possible to gain some leverage, probably with aim of recusing himself from the inquiry & not actually resigning. Republicans don't want to give an inch or surrender any power or admit any wrong doing.
Be very surprised if he is forced to resign tho. Doesn't seem to be an awful lot in it, not much grounds for the controversy. A storm in a teacup. Or vodka shot. Doesn't seem close to grounds for dismissal, in fact it seems more likely the question during his hearing was worded in such a manner as to predict & cover this very issue i.e. he wasn't asked did he have contact with Russian officials, he was asked did he have contact with Russian officials with relation to the election. Plenty of leeway there.

I think you give Axl too much credit on the partnership thing. Think your critique on his (project) management is pretty spot on, but could be a little tougher still - not only was he lacking the skills & wherewithal, he was quite probably lacking the ambition, energy & vision: all his behaviour since CD's bastardised release points to a man satisfied with his place at the table. The only sign betraying that was a joking line at the Chinese exchange about not having released enough material. He was ok having the royalities roll in off of AFD, he had his meal ticket.
