Bucket easily got the most press in 2002. No question about it. He is unique. Freak ....of course. But, he catches your attention with his look and talent.
He was the perfect replacement for Slash. Like you said has a unique look. He definitely would've brought GNR back to top level in 02. And the fact he doesn't give serious interviews adds to the mystique. If Axl would've been willing to do the interviews or if another bandmate would've handled the interviews. I think CD in 02 would've been much better received and would've done way better sales wise in 02.

That's an unfair swipe. He doesn't play bars. He plays clubs and he also plays festivals.
wasnt meant to be a swipe, but there is no way that BH's presence or absence has swayed the amount of people in the seats to any great extent...that was the point i was trying to make...reading it again it comes off more negative than I had intended
Axl is the draw for the current GnR. and has been since they took the stage in vegas in 2001
I disagree. Bucket brought something new to the table. And his look made people's head turn and talk. I wouldn't go to a Buckethead show but if Axl were to announce that Bucket is coming back even if I hate the opener and it was the same setlist I'd still buy tickets for a show or 2. And like I said at the Metallica show the guy behind me had bought his tickets for the Quebec show and when I told him Bucket was not in the band anymore he said he would give his tix to a friend or a family member. In 06, a lot of people in St-John I knew thought Bucket was in the band and were disapointed that he was not. He may be underground and a lot of people could be like me and would not go to his show but if he were in GNR he would attract some people.

That crowd is on fire. This is when there was actual genuine interest in the "new beginning". They kicked ass at Rio, and easily sold out the club dates prior to Rio, and they had difficulty selling out the Joint in 2006, which holds 1200 people.
This 2002 mindset of "look at the freak!!!!1111!!" is bullshit. They killed that crowd, and that moment was talked about by tons of people for weeks after the performance. Its one of the all time highlights in VMA's history.
The fuck up was Axl himself not being ready and of course not releasing the record at the perfect moment.
People were willing to accept the new lineup in 2001 and 2002. Not so in 2006-09, so aim that stuff at them, not the lineup who did 99.9% of the work.
That is when Axl definitely made one of his biggest fuck ups ever. Had he come out with CD back then right after the VMA'S like a month after and would've toured like he should have. If Axl was gonna rule the music bizz again he could've done it right there. That lineup had the best chance to make the fans forget the old lineup. Talk about missing the boat.
#214 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns N Roses best MSG concert in the 90's?? » 825 weeks ago
It is a very weird list and I would not vote for GNR cause for starters I haven't seen any MSG shows.

I'll have to agree with you Monkey. Karma!

LMFAO...
I wouldn't be shocked. If MLB gets blamed, we've gotta be next.
However if a rant about me, gets Double Talkin' Jive back in the setlist... it'd be all worth it.
If we are ever blamed by Axl I'll take it on the chin. Won't even be worth it. Although like you I would consider it an honor to have DTJ dedicated to me or all 3 of us.

I live in Canada and I won't go to see them. *lol* Seriously I would not be surprised if this is Axl's last hurrah. BUT! I would not be surprised if it isn't his last tour either.

But who cares though? That's my point. It's like Faldor said, let's say that they do come out and play a set list similar to 06... it'll really hurt you that much?
Won't hurt me. It'll hurt my willingness to attend.

Sounds like more getting ready to blame someone else to me. I can't wait to see where this one goes...
Buzz I think you, me and Axlin are next in line in the blame list. *lol*

I hope you're right APE but don't be disappointed if it doesn't happen.
