I think you’re all going overboard now…

I lived in Wisconsin for 24 years. I’ve now lived in Illinois almost as long. So what am i?  Am i always a Wisconsinite no matter where I’ve been or how long I’ve been there?

The major issue here is why on earth did this person become so indignant? The insistence of my perception being altered just because you say so is annoying.

This…amongst other things is why the Dems should get pummeled in November.

While i find these issues incredibly insignificant and i believe that far too much focus is put on such a tiny segment of society…it’s such an easy target. I don’t personally know any trans people and the ones i indirectly know are so preoccupied that they’re completely harmless.

The right has succeeded in making this a main issue and i just don’t give a shit. What motivates me more than anything is someone gaining political points by platforming exclusionary ideas and  policies.

The right is back to banning books, erasing new ideas and white washing history. The Dems are so incompetent that they allow this to be the winning message.

I’m not sure how any of you could misconstrue me as a conservative.

Why wouldn’t you think about those things when it comes to caring for these people?!

Loved how Rhonda Rousey celebrated winning by wishing everyone a happy Mother’s Day. After she just beat another mother.

Is everything just a public service announcement these days?

In a reversal, the douche Elon Musk will return Trump to twitter making it official that rich famous people should no longer be accountable for anything they do…ever.

The story about the downs teen sitting in the chair is very sad.

I'm not sure if society wise the solution to that is aborting him from the start though.

I worry that's the road to a eugenics themed society.

Like to take it to extremes...my life is pathetic from the perspective of a wealthy person living in Monaco...but I'd rather fix my life than be put out of my misery.  Easier said than done I guess though.

The real question is can you put your money where your mouth is? Can you tolerate the increase in health insurance premiums to take care of someone else's child? Are you going to complain about taxes going up to build and maintain more group homes?

Because if you can't, then your pontificating seems to be missing something.

Dude, he’s just saying he feels bad that kids are being aborted simply for having Down syndrome. I just made the same point. He didn’t kick your puppy.

Btw, it’s very right wing of you to begrudge the existence of a poor child because your taxes go up. Plot twist!

I’ve already made my decision and I’ve made it numerous times. The healthcare and well-being of everyone in this country is important. And I don’t complain about the premiums and I don’t complain about paying taxes in a blue state.

My biggest gripe is with the people who are pro life or anti-abortion who don’t want to pony up when it’s time to pay for those policies.

On the disability stuff, I think it's easier to get it if you're a child if you have legit medical documentation.

This couldn’t be any more false. It’s no wonder the average person walks around thinking the system is fucking them.

Without hesitation... absolutely.

Part of it boils down to what Flagg mentioned...

Who takes care of them when you're dead?

Reminds me of what happened to my mom when she worked at a place in MO that took care of the disabled when she was between careers....

She cleaned up the facility... including doing their laundry. She had to go to their rooms. In one room was a teenage boy who just sat in an empty room in his wheelchair... doing nothing. He got no visitors and nobody else cared. She used to come home and cry thinking about him. Years later she would wonder if he's still alive and sitting in that chair.

That is horrifying. No one deserves an existence like that. Abort him.

Your first comment about your ex drug dealer getting all kinds of money needs evidence. I serve this population and i have no idea what you’re talking about.

It's not hard to figure out....

SSI

That's two grand(maybe more) right there

Maybe another disability check as well

Welfare (maybe a grand, not sure how much you'd get)

Cherries on top....

I think he got some kind of grant for a local school for special ed

Food stamps

That's entering lower middle class lifestyle right there... especially when you factor in he was on SSI, and his wife and two teenagers got welfare.

Imagine how much total food stamps he got for a family of six.

He owned two new cars(electric) and also owned a Dodge Ram. Lived in a nice house too.

I still don't understand how he was able to own all this stuff while on public assistance...but not that surprising. My aunt Teresa and her husband owned a home in the late 90s-early 2000s and they were also on SSI and welfare.

He used to joke about not even needing to deal drugs....and I finally realized it wasn't really a joke. Like most drug dealers, he was mainly dealing to feed his own addiction. The trickle of cash coming in from drugs was pure gravy to the main course of government money.

That’s interesting to me bc so many families i work with say SSI is a dead end. All the righting and renewal processes. Even if you win you lose.
