#221 Guns N' Roses » Impressed with Ashba » 598 weeks ago

I loved Robin.
He was great.

But.
The guitar compositions Ashba has written to fill his solo gaps in GNR concerts are amazing.
The guy is really making the most of his spot in GNR.
He hasn't got the chance to put anything on a GNR record yet but he does get his solo spot during the shows.
The amount of work he has put into crafting really really good pieces of music for those solo spots is impressive.
Every time he tours with GNR he introduces a new original Solo. That is really making the most of what you've got.
More than that. The solos are great. They really gel with the November Rain, Estranged, This I love, There Was a Time type GNR material.

Is a high quality version of the O2 show available anywhere else other than Comcast? Like a rental streaming service? I actually never watched that O2 show, other than the 14 Years & Dead Flowers performances.

I have it saved on my DVR if you want to stop by. 16
Free viewing if you supply the 5

That's a bargain for the summer right there.

I don't know why outlets like RS print articles like this. Interviewing Dizzy Reed about the next GNR album is like interviewing your plumber about your finances.
That isn't his role and it never has been. Anything he says on the topic is going to be a guess at best.

Interviewing Axl these days doesn't even cut the mustard, wasn't he banging on in a recent Revolver or Billboard interview about having 2 more albums (CD2 and a remix of CD 1) ready to go?

Guns n roses need to be treated on a different time scale to the average music industry entity.

They move at their own pace and that's never going to change at this point.
I'd rather not hear anything bout new music and be surprised by an unexpected release.

Wow hey crowd you ever heard of that guy? One of the greatest guitarists of all time? GET UP!!!!

Exactly!

I'm really surprised that crowd doesn't seem to give a shit about Slash being up there...

Well they were the opening band so I'm sure it was a late arriving Aerosmith heavy crowd. Pretty standard, at least in America. It is a great bill though and you would hope for a little more enthusiasm from the crowd, which they deserve. Maybe as the tour progresses and they win some people over. Shows you how hard it is to make it in in the business though to be as established as Slash is, and Myles to a lesser extent, and to get a lukewarm reception after a solid performance. At least they weren't booed off the stage and drowned out with "Aero-Smith" chants. That's a plus.

Is this at a festival by any chance? festival crowds are usually full of people who happened by for a look rather than die hard fans.

Update: No it isn't a festival. Strange! I got tickets to see these guys later in the year I know I won't be standing back stroking my chin!

A picture tells a thousand words.
Especially when those pictures are more recent than the words.

Yes because ex-grilfriends and enemies are sure to give unbiased accounts of a persons  character.

Heavy Myles influence on the writing of this one alright. It's very Myles Kennedy.
