I never want to meet any of my idols or heroes. I am sure the real life experience would destroy my "Fantasy" and would make it hard to appreciate and like them the way I do now.

Was at a Prince after party and i was chilling outside and he walked out of a door maybe 10-15 feet or so from me.. I could've walked over and said hi or this or that.. but he looked over at me with my Prince concert shit on and kinda nodded his head and i did the same and let him be.

Dont know why people  think Axl wouldnt play a few new songs.. Hell he played a bunch of new ones in 2001....... 7 years before the album came out

no reason why he couldn't play a couple more new ones.

U would think he HAS to do something different than the status Quo.

This isn't your normal 1 through 10 list.

I think bands from every era range from great to shit with each copy cat sucking a little more from the genre till it dies.

For instance Nirvana would be a level 1 *top Level* whereas The Verve  certainly would not be Level 1.

Trick to this game is, for us to place Grunge/nu metal/rock  bands on each rung of the scale and debate who belongs where.

For instance Level 1 would easily be Nirvana,Soundgarden,STP,Pearl Jam, AIC etc etc etc  but would Limp bizkit maintain a number 1 level?

how bout bands like Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox 20? etc...

Let's say Level 1 is greatest.. Level 4 is the shittiest...  Place the bands on each one and see what we can come up with.

Gonna combine all 90's bands since their were various styles in that decade

But take Motley Crue and Poison... Are they low level number 1's? or do they fall down to the 2nd level??

how bout bands like Warrant and Slaughter etc...

In 91 all the cool kids were wanting to be Axl Rose but 6 months later they were all dressing in flannel. I hate that frontrunner shit. I like what I like and I have never apologized for it. Grunge was way worse than Hair Metal after the 4 or 5 really great bands.

one of my friends in high school... we use to trade Bon Jovi tapes and discuss them etc... When Nirvana hit, I asked him if he had heard their new album "Keep The Faith" and he was like... They suck, they are gay... motherfucker u loved them 2 years ago.......

I hate that. MTV/RollingStone no body dictates to me what is cool, what is great and what i should listen to. I like what i like and what moves me and what makes me feel something. never was interested in being cool.

While some of those grunge albums were amazing, I do agree that MTV forced that movement. Always rubbed me the wrong way but some of those bands could back up the hype so in the end it didn't matter.

Cornell and Cobain(the two "leaders" of grunge) despised the movement even though it was making them both rich. Said it became a parody of itself the moment it went mainstream and went against everything it initially stood for and I agree.

When preppies are buying 50 cent flannels at thrift stores to fit in, it's no longer a movement or a statement. It's just a product being bought and sold to the masses.

Some of the knockoff grunge band's were downright unlistenable.

Yes it was. The Soundgarden song Karaoke is about all those bullshit bands. Other than LES Artistes, my favorite anti poseur song.

D, since you obviously weren't a grunge fan, check out this song. It's killer but never really caught on. If you hate it don't bother diving into their discog because it's their best song hands down.

I like that song. FIrst time ive heard it but I'd def give it repeat spins

I liked some grunge. absolutely Loved Nirvana more than life itself.. my fandom def hasn't held up through the years.. still like them but a lot of what happened after Kurt committed suicide turned me off a lot towards it.

STP not sure is considered "Grunge' but one of my all time faves

I've never been a big Soundgarden/AIC fan but I appreciate their greatness and understand why so many love them.

Pearl Jam.. Their songs I either love or hate.. no in between with Pearl Jam, the songs I like are all time great or pure shit to my ears.. no just ok.. its def boom or bust. the ones i love.. i have a deep connection to.

A band I absolutely hate is smashing Pumpkins.. I can tolerate Corgan for a song or two but is absolute torturous trying to make it through a complete album for me.

U guys also have no clue my love and fandom for Prince that lives onto this day... When i was in High School, I painted my car purple and had a Gold Prince symbol on the hood. no BS. I discovered him right as Grunge was hitting and the time I went through his entire catalog/new stuff, grunge was over and I never got into it.
