Well, in Axl's defense, I Don't think he purposely spent 15 years on an album. He did release 4 killer albums in a span of 5 years.
People seriously underestimate how hard it is to put the right band together.
u think replacing the old band is a walk in the park? I'd say it took years just trying to find the right chemistry/players.

Then u have to write songs and i honestly think Axl was just never satisfied with the quality of the material. Don't think it had anything to do with perfectionism, just the material wasn't up to the level it should be. Then u tour in 2002 just to road test the band and make money.. things don't go the way u would like etc and its almost like starting back at square one.

People have this illusion that writing songs is so simple, but remember ,Axl never wrote all the lyrics in the old band. so having to be the sole lyric writer is daunting and it isn't easy writing profound lyrics. Sure its easy writing simple get high/get laid shit... but he was writing from a deep place and u have bouts where u are creative, bouts where u can't think of shit.

so, I give Axl a lot of shit on the forums, but I don't think he has lost his heart or love for it. It takes some courage to continue on with the GNR name knowing US Fans and most people hate u for it.
