I'm pretty sure it was oranges. My uncle owned that ranch and it was mainly orange trees there.

Ahhh, they looked kinda like prunus. Orange trees here are mostly small and grown in pots so you can move them in out of the cold during winter.

Fuck I'm glad they did, I'd take the Illusions over Appetite part 2 any day of the week.
Its just a pity they were all so fucked up in their own individual ways that they couldnt keep up the camaraderie and creativeness they once shared.

Mabye its time to edit the title of this thread, its looking more and more implausible as the weeks go past, at least for summer at any rate.

Thats not what over produced means and Appetite and Zep were not over produced. Over produced means in excess of what was needed, Appetite For Destruction was not produced excessively,  some Zep albums might have a vast amount more production involved than Appetite but not in excess of what had to be done to make it work.

I'd say the explosions during the intro of CD, the additional layer of vocals,  the cut n pasted drums in Better, the pasted vocals in SOD, the phased "la, la, na, na" in ITW, the cookie monster and choir outro in TWAT and the intro to Riad - were all examples of "over production".
There is a few examples of bad mixing on the album, its a shame because it ruins the song.
I'd say the outro of Catcher in the Rye is one of the worst examples of bad mixing on the album, theres a battle of volume going on between the lead guitar and the vocals, and the drums seem to be forgotten. Now for the first time I can hear the bridge in TIL properly and  I'd say that song suffers because that shit is golden and its lost on the album.

Oh and why is Prostitute quieter than all the other songs?  And its not just the intro, even when the song kicks in its still quieter than the other songs 10

Riad sounds great like this as well, Brain is tearing it up, so is rhythm and bass guitars.
I always loved the album version of Riad, I think the solo is god awful though, but its one song I hope to see played live one day.

This I Love is soooooo beautiful without the solo, I wonder if its really about an ex or his mother? I know it was started years ago but that could have been just the piano and melodies, it could be about his mother after she died.

Its not that robins solo is bad, I just never thought it done the song justice. Hearing this version makes me believe no solo was needed at all from anyone, the strings and flutes through the bridge are absolutely fantastic. But they are indistinguishable in the album version because of the solo, its such a waste because they are so much more emotional than the solo.
