I agree with Duff when he said recently that Chinese Democracy will be much more appreciated as time goes on, and will also become more successful -- that it's a slow building album.
When did Duff say that?

I dont think it was the music, I think its more they had completely lost confidence in Axl Rose as a dependable person way back when they finally cut the purse strings in 2004.
After all those years of getting nothing for their investments and also the fact that they, just like the fanbase, have been waiting around for fucking years and are now fully wisened up to the shambolic way GNR operate.
I think if universal believed 100% that they could rely on Axl/GN'R, they would have backed it more. Mabye they did see the plans for release and thought "you've gotta be fucking kidding, naaaaaah I dont think we'll splash out on this one"

The Academy Awards are not a league and its not a competition. Its an award some people are handed in recognition of a special achievement and hardly anyone on the face of the earth ever gets one, never mind more than one.
They are not won by scoring points every week and totaling them up at the end of the season. The sporting comparisons are not really relevant.

Twat is probably my most skipped song, the outro is good but the first half is a bit of a let down and I dont think the lyrics are particuarly great either.
On the other hand I would definently like to hear all of Chinese Democracy live and less of the old bands material.
Any time they played twat in 06 it sounded under rehearsed to me, I was pleased to hear that they have been spending some time in rehearsals this year - I hope it was to perfect all the new songs for maximum impact when playing them live.
