I dunno about role model, but I loved GN'R when I was 8 back in 88 and had the posters and the records of them. I remember thinking they were cool as fuck, they never inspired me to take drugs but Slash definently made smoking look cool big_smile

GN'R were monumentaly popular back in the glory days, reaching kids, teens and adults. Not many bands can pull that off.

Nightrain was my favourite song 9 Was there ever a video for that? My brother came home and teased me one day saying he had seen the video for Nightrain on MTV at someones house, I've never seen it if it existed.
That twat had a 60 minute cassette with nothing but Paradise City on it, and played it constantly in a little ghetto blaster he carried around with him.
My parents still hate that song.

The Hunt For Gollum is available to watch here now:

It was ok, I was hoping it would be more Tolkien inspired than it was. It seems more inspired by Peter Jackson than Tolkien, which is odd as this little story is kinda pulled from the books.  I say kinda because its just not very accurate of what really happened.
There were a few things that bugged me, but for what it is, it is definently worth a watch.
For a fan made film - the acting, costumes, landscapes, soundtrack  and special effects are all really good.

There are other little back stories that could have been more interesting to make a short film on imo. I cant help think they chose this story to build more of a buzz about themselves, given the mainstream popularity the movie Gollum/Smeagol has.

man robin's lead stuff is painful to listen to by itself 18

it sounds like he got tangled in the strings and is trying to free himself sad

As much as I loved seeing GNR live and as great a show it was, his solo spots were excruciatingly bad. People were actually looking at each other laughing. It was mind boggling as he nailed all his spots on the songs perfectly.
He could have stuck a microphone into a bag full of cats and swung it around for 5 minutes and created something more recognisable as "music".

Pantera gets the vote. I quite like Kashmir but I tire of it quickly, Walk keeps me interested by the sheer attitude of the song.

Alien.

I have had the quadrology boxset in my collection for 2 or 3 years, never got around to opening it. Last night I burst the celophane and was suprised to find 8 discs! 4 feature film discs with original versions and extended/directors cut versions as well, plus a bonus disc for each film with the making of etc.

I picked that up for £15 in a sale in HMV a few years back reduced from £70, not to shabby.

What an eerie film, even though I know what happens its still tense as hell.
Top marks to Ian Holm and John Hurt, those 2 freak out scenes are exceptional acting.

I think Estranged is a masterpiece. It peaks and dips in all the right places and has all the players performing at the peak of their powers. The lyrics are a state of mind, I guess you have to be in that place to really get the song.
From the piano to the drums to bass to the guitars - its all fucking perfectly constructed and pieced together.
Its fucking BS that it wouldnt even be recognised anywhere else, I have seen it in the top 20 VH1 rock songs and it also tops the charts on UK rock channels top 50 whatever run-downs, last I checked those wernt Guns N Roses exclusive channels.

I'm watching Inland Invasion. What the fuck was Robin on?
He grooves like Stevie Wonder on an amphetamine binge.

I just read all his twitter for the first time, its actually pretty cool, dunno why some people hate on him for it. I read Sebastian Bach's as well for some reason, old big mouth blabbers away to everyone it seems lol.
