I doubt it’s like, an official tracklist CD2 with artwork and shit. Just any finished track.

In retrospect, they have been doing everything for a while now for money. Yeah, I know all musicians do this. CD release, you can't tell me a big portion of it wasn't to clear out the debts accumulated by Axl on recording that album. On mygnr a while back, someone was going over financials and at some point, they had to tour to raise cash for something/or just needed the money. This was before Slash/Duff returned and was in the 2000s sometime.
Slash and Duff returned purely for the money and in search of the money they lost when they left the partnership in the late 90s. They haven't been "artists" at least in GNR for a long time. The only way we are getting new music if it someone leaks something. And that's pretty sad. Also explains, how Slash/Duff deal with the clown show GNR management. They don't care as long as the money keeps on rolling in. When they do the solo stuff, they use their own managers (ie actual professionals).
“As long as the money keeps rolling in” … well what happens this NA tour when the venues they sold out in 2021 are 3/4 capacity or worse? I bought the nightrain membership for Boston GA tix at 400 a pop and can still happily go get them for face value.
Answer: not new music probably. They are far more likely to 1/ stop touring or 2/ wait a while and do a “farewell” tour.
Edit: still waiting for my Nightrain merch.

I'm quite disappointed in Duff and Slash, highly motivated individuals who can clearly makes things happen, yet they seem happy enough to just take the money
Ok do you really blame a divorced Slash and a fucking bassist for taking the bag? Sucks as a diehard fan (who wants new music) but I don’t for a second.
Edit: (who wants new music)

Really Richard? Still playing the “we don’t have a setlist” card, even though the setlist outside of a few songs has been the same for 7 years?
Just stop talking. It’s embarrassing.
I actually don’t have much of a problem with his comment. Compared to other artists there an ok amount of variety day to day. There’s just never anything new, and he definitely doesn’t promise anything new.

Remember that time in 2006 when Axl showed up at Derek Trucks' show at the Roxy and hung out with them afterwards? Five years ago, members of the Big Damn Band shed a little more light on how it was to hang out with him in Trucks' tour bus. They mention how they were wary at the time to spill the beans to the media despite numerous call-ups around the world. A lot of fans have disliked their story, because it paints Ax in a little... unfavorable light.

Do I believe their story? In essence, yes. They met Axl, for sure. They remember his then-age correctly (44yrs). He was interested in getting Derek to play on CD. This was in February, a few months before Ron was begged to join the band. All that stuff checks out in terms of timelines.
They describe Axl as pretty easygoing at first. During the afterparty, he takes in loads of Patron tequila. No more Mr Nice Guy. After some left-field events like a call from his stepsister Amy Bailey to inform him of a newborn nephew/niece, Axl storms into Derek's tour bus, where the others have already gathered. He insists everybody listens to some CD tracks. His abrasiveness kills the mood and he intimidates everybody. Derek's wife passes out, the BDB members scuffle out at the first opportunity. Derek is left alone with Axl. He manages to loose Axl at the parking lot and hides under a car. Axl's handlers presumably find him wandering around, utterly wasted, hollering at the out-of-sight Derek.
It's a rare and, I'd say, pretty believable look into his mindscape in that era. That's likely the routine TB have had to deal with repeatedly when he's had too much to drink in a social setting. Had he presented the offer differently, Derek might've even guested on CD. But this is how Axl rolls. It's sort of amazing that he got people like Bucket to join the band in the first place. Has he really changed that much since? I doubt. It's something of a miracle he's kept the touring act together all these years.
Totally believable. I think that year also had the Tommy Hilfigger incident. They also oddly at some point promoted some tequilla brand.

Seeing Metallica do their promo and the buzz and the multi-year tour must at least light some sort of competitive fire in GnR. Axl no doubt likes the attention he gets for Carrie’s guest spots by the national media. Doesn’t he want Stern, Kimmel, etc? One more push for stardom before full blown retirement?
Maybe not…

I no longer believe we're getting an album....a few songs tops.
It all boils down to what happens this summer.
I think we’ve got what we’re getting. Maybe a couple more songs. An album and all the effort that goes with it doesn’t move the needle for these guys nor their tours.

Perfect example of what we're missing out on....

Imagine that show in HD.
I hate how these bands just sit on this stuff. It's unforgivable.
Look at the Beatles...they literally sat on endless hours of the recording of Let It Be for over 50 years...for shits and giggles. It wouldn't have hurt anything to allow fans to experience that.
Imagine how many Beatles fans died between 1970 and 2022 who never got to see that. It took Peter Jackson wanting to see it and turn it into a huge project for it to come out.
Hell....there's still an unreleased Beatles song that hasn't come out yet... Carnival of Light. Yeah it's supposed to not be all that great but McCartney has hyped the damn thing for 50+ years. Release it !!!
I'd love for these mega rich artists to lose all their money...at least briefly. You'd then see an instant 180 on hoarding stuff from their prime. We'd get box sets of buried treasure up the wazoo.
Your points are valid especially with gnr. But an unreleased never heard Beatles track is a whole nother animal. I don’t blame that camp for keeping it in the rainy day fund.

Thoughts on the title track? To me it sounds like a lesser version of Spit Out the Bone from the last album. It’s a bit clunky and all over the place structure wise, but it still sounds pretty great.
I’m still looking forward to the album in a few weeks!
I read this before hearing it and it definitely skewed my opinion lol. Sounds like they were trying to do Spit Out The Bone again.

This comes up every tour….like clockwork. The sky is falling! Let the band and promoters worry about ticket sales…
Fair. I just wonder why they insist on the stadiums. They could probably still sell out reasonably priced arenas.
