I wonder if CD would've been better had Axl kept his OMG direction.
A part of what makes CD not that great is how some songs sound like a bunch of guys trying to play like other guys and it comes off kind of generic
Like Scott Stapp when he did that solo album. that song The Great Divide sounds like a poor man's Mark Tremonti
Some of the stuff on CD sounds like guys listened to Appetite over and over and tried to emulate Slash's sound which is why I hate Robin Finck. Its like a tone deaf dude singing in the shower.

I mean dissing Prince? Come on
Prince can outplay him easily on any instrument and is 100 times the legend he is.
Gene is a whore but he still has done some pretty remarkable things
Axl is a million time better singer also
I will give Trent credit "Year Zero" is one of my favorite albums EVER

Trent can say what he wants but he just seems to act as if he is better than everyone else.

Axlin, I'm still not buying the idea that the label is interested in a NEW old line up album. Labels make more money off the old albums and greatest hits than a reunion album. Very rare when those reunion albums actually sell anything, even with bands much bigger than GNR. A reunion would be more lucrative for the band with touring, not with a label trying to sell a new "old" album. Not to mention big labels don't really like pushing rock acts that are in their 40's. Which might be a problem Axl is facing right now
Anyway, I'm still pretty convinced there will be another album released. Don't know under what circumstance, but at the end of the day it would be to both parties advantage to release it. I just don't see any "big" promotion from uni in that albums release, either.
I remember reading the quote about Geffen being upset Axl didn't promote it, but you can't blame him with the way they released it. I think Axl did have a big plan for its release and it got shit on by the label. And why he's not pimping it.
Eagles had one of the biggest selling albums of the year

I like Trent but he is starting to piss me off with his ridiculous slagging of everybody
He had the nerve to say something about Prince who pretty much paved the fucking way for how major artists use the internet to sell music.
Now Axl..................

I think Padmasana is better than anything Slash has ever recorded. Yes, better than the SCOM & NR solos, better than the riffs to Jungle & Nightrain.
I'd put the TWAT solo up against anything from the old era with Slash. I also think the If The World & Sorry solos are quite soulful, and the IRS & Prostitute solos are pretty damn rockin'.
I also prefer instrumentally, quite a few Bucket performed old era songs from 2002, to their originals.
Bucket might have not done anything as 'legendary' as Slash, but that's once again Slash fans measure talent and quality on success and popularity, not the actual worth of the music.
How are u judging worth though?
I'll take kick ass amazing riffs and heartfelt solos that make my heart bleed and my dick hard over what sounds like a thousand angry bees and a bunch of effects and stuff.
#2968 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy Chart Positions Thread » 885 weeks ago
more technical but hasn't written anything as legendary as Slash
I'll take th legendary riffs and solos over a technical guy who plays really fast.

Remember on Metallica's "Some Kind Of Monster" when they had to do that really shitty radio bit or basically they were told radio wouldn't support it....
same shit here

My problem with this is:
It's like Axl still could've done something without the label
he could've done radio promo, Letterman/Leno Today Show.....
I promise the reason GNR singles tanked at radio was due to Axl doing Zero press. Radio took that as a slap in the face and basically pulled the plug.
