Libertad like Chinese has failed and flopped for one reason and one reason only

Slither and FTP were back to back number 1's which makes skeptical people go out and buy it, cause back to back awesome songs does that

with Libertad, SBQM was a bad single and The Last Fight wasn't a great single either.

with CD, CD was a horrible single and Better just has too much going on.

The thing I like about Slither that I don't find in GNR rockers is that build up

where VR use Bass, and Guitar and drums to build a song to an explosion

GNR now use special effects, and samples and synths etc.

I am more of a rock guy, so I like Slither better than the GNR rock stuff.

What people don't get is, by saying I like Contraband better, that isn't in anyway saying Chinese Democracy sucks. I just really hold Contraband in high regards. That CD stayed in my CD player for over a year and a half and IS STILL my go to running CD which just keeps u going and going and going when u have lots of miles to log.

CD for me, is so computerized etc, that a lot of the balls are just ripped out of it.

that isn't to say it isn't a fine album, but for this stage in my life, I am more about good time, kick ass rock n roll.

now if I had CD in 2002 back when my life was at rock bottom, those ballads and stuff would've meant way more to me than they do now.

For my money though, u just can't beat the groove, intensity and power of Sucker Train, Do it for the kids, Slither, Dirty Little Thing, Headspace and Set Me Free

I also like Fall To Pieces, You Got No Right and Loving the Alien better than the GNR ballads.

once again, this isn't saying CD sucks, but Contraband is a very special album to me and one of my favorite rock cd's ever.

so if i rate contraband a 9.5, CD can still be an 8.5 which is still great, just below contraband.

I think it started for me when those people over there when on their old band bashing rampage.

I bought a boot of RIR3 and loved it. I accepted the new band and was really into it. I even made a thread over there why it was ok for this band to be considered GNR.

THEN, the old band bashing shit started. U had people going out of there way to say Robin Finck was better than Slash and that was something I couldn't shut up about. So I start defending Slash and i got a rep for somehow hating the new band etc

Now it has gotten to the point where those people make me so sick, I almost do hate the new band.

U guys are right. I think I am gonna stop posting over there for a while and see how it goes.

I stay there out of habit but also, just to balance things out a bit. I am actually a GNR fan but some of the shit on there is ridiculous.

Listen to that CD and pay attention to the drums. Not only is it the best drumming of any GNR cd, but it contains some of the nicest drum work ever laid down on a rock CD.

People go on and on how brain is John Bonham on steroids or something and damn it, I just don't hear it on CD. It sounds like any standard studio drumming u would hear on any other CD. plus, he didn't even write most of the drum parts on there.

oh yeah, I am not a musician because I can't understand the complexity of the drum parts and how it blah blah blah

the drums are low in the mix to save space for other layers of keyboards synthesizers, vocals and guitar.

there aren't any songs I can think of *PLEASE point me to one if I am wrong* where the drums CARRY the song a la We Will Rock You, Paradise City, Rocket Queen, Locomotive, Primal Scream etc etc
