nah, bret micheals is nowhere near the league of Axl
Axl is probably slightly below the Motley Crue level right now. their records probably sold about the same.

oh yeah, about the Blues at RIR 3
That version STILL ranks up there almost with Estranged for me
What the fuck happened between 01 and now?
I can barely listen to it now and that kills me cause that song at Rio, everything was perfect, even finck who I have a long history of hating was awesome on it.

That's just what a hater would say. Non fan too.

The only thing that makes it hard for me to 100 percent believe Axl are the following:
1. He takes what seems to be absolutely ZERO blame. I don't give a fuck who u are, everyone had "Some" blame in any break up situation
2. So the entire universe is lying and he is the only one who speaks the truth? Izzy,Steven,Slash,Duff and Matt are all lying, all came together to tell the exact same shit, not to mention Zutaut and various other manager/A &R guys.
If Axl would admit some culpability, I would be able to take more of his side of things. the evidence though, just doesn't support what he says.
Now
I do give Axl the benefit of the doubt on some things. Working with drug addict/alcoholics when u aren't one is a pain in the fucking ass. so he is in the right with that.
if their drug problems caused his behavior, that is understandable and I take his side on that 100 percent.

Madagascar is one of my fave GNR songs EVER. I have listened to it for 8 years now and still love it.
It took me a long time to actually get what this song is talking about and how the soundbites and everything fit into the context of Axl's life. I think it suffers from the subpar Axl vocal work and the placement at the back end of the album. I just get tired from listening to all those other epics.
Sorry is good, If the World i give u that one also
Agreed on this.
TWAT musically is great but I feel Axl drops the ball for the first 3/4 of the song until the amazing outro. the verses and lyrics just for me make no fucking sense at all.
I think of the exact opposite of this song. I dig like the lyrics and the first 2/3 of the song. However, the last 1/3 just bores me and I end up not caring about the song. I'm probably the only one who has this opinion though.
Catcher has some of the greatest melodies, lyrics and piano.synth stuff of any GNR song in history.
Guitar is just fucking ridiculously horrible though and takes the song from a masterpiece to a fucking clusterfuck. This is what Estranged would sound like without Slash.
I'd love a piano/snyth,drum only version of that song.
Yes! I'd also add that the wailing backing vocals (check around 3:04) and some of the piano work adds to the clusterfuck of the song. I also believe the guitar is mixed too high at some points and drowns out Axl's beautiful vocal melodies. It's too bad as the last verse is truly brilliant but gets kind of overshadowed by the wanky guitar solo.
100 percent spot on with the Catcher outro comment. I couldn't have said it better

Yeah but once again, NR is so worn out.............. it makes it hard to properly judge.
same with like WTTJ. I mean after hearing it 1 million times and at every sporting event, it is hard to independently put that song on yourself cause u are just sick of it. so that skewers things.
I will say this:

Yeah, I don't get why people dislike the solo in This I Love either - to me it's the highlight of the song.

What I like about this forum is, we can have discussions. No one on here insults posters *which I love*
usually from what I've seen, we have really awesome debates on here. I can calmly and intelligently tell u why I don't like something, u can calmly and intelligently tell me how u feel I am wrong or missing something.
Disagreements don't have to be blood baths or real evil fights. It can be cordial and respectful. Thats why I post stuff like this here and nowhere else.
Imagine this post at HTGTH!:headbang:
If u think CD is greater than Appetite, I respect that, I will try and tell u why I think u are wrong, but I would never insult someone or expect anybody to share my opinion. I am just tired of not being honest on forums and holding back what I feel out of fear of being labeled a "NON fan" or a hater.

I haven't read every post but I will. I don't mind people criticizing me at all
let me preface some of this by saying
I said 75 percent. I do agree CD has some great guitar moments which makes the really awful ones even more inexcusable. I do love If The World, Sorry, The CD solos are pretty damn good............. I wasn't trying to say Bucket's playing was Nu metalish, there are some guitar moments that make me think nu metal.
Bucket's Sorry and Twat solos are among some of the best GNR solos, I give him those props
then though, u get to songs like TIL and Catcher and u just have to wonder why Axl let those solos in? The Catcher solo completely rapes that song for me. I just absolutely hate everything about it. TIL is the same way.
I still can't help but wonder WTF on IRS? that song guitar riff wise is just a huge BLAH moment.....
Bass guitar??????????? where the fuck is it?
A huge part that makes a band awesome is the foundation, the way a bass player and a drummer groove together. Take Duff/Adler, Flea/Chad Smith............
U can really tell the drums and bass were recorded years apart because CD has zero groove whatsoever. the over done Pro Tools stuff sucks the life out of a lot of songs that should be more killer. Better for instance. U have that great guitar breakdown section before the Axl scream "I never wanted u to be so full of anger............. parts" That guitar section rocks but the drums and those little super mario fart bubble noises kill the intensity in that section for me.
Maybe my problem is the same reason I hated the First New Batman movie. I just couldn't separate it from the Tim Burton one which I love.
Of course The Dark Knight came a long and its one of my favorites ever.
so I am hopeful that the next CD will really blow me away.
