Thats a Hardcore/Gabba/Speedcore album, its not rock music. A very fast and agressive underground form of house/techno.

Its not GN'R and Axl might be interested in the name those guys are calling themselves.

I noticed a Nasenblauten song on there, I have a few of his tracks from back in the mid 90's. I think he was Australian, but the label he was on was Lenny Dee's Industrial Strength Records from New York.

Its just an underground extreme techno band or dj who has pinched the name.

I might get it on vinyl tomorrow, seen it in HMV for £15, not too shabby for a new album double vinyl.

Its strange to me because there are people I used to talk GNR to all the time and we were excited about the new album for years, but now its only me who is still interested in Chinese Democracy. Its quite sad, even I was underwhelmed initially, I enjoy it more now though. Of the ones I disliked, I still cant grasp the popularity of Sorry, but Scraped and TIL have grown on me a lot, I actually like them now. Stil not digging the new Catcher, but dont hate it as much as before.

But its still a decent album overall, looking forward to trying it out on vinyl.

#3295 Re: Guns N' Roses » What affect did the leaks have on you? » 932 weeks ago

None of the leaks blew me away like the early live versions of Maddy, The Blues and CD.
So I guess the leaks helped dilute the fantasy I had in my head that the new album was going to an orgasmic musical masterpiece, that would even succeed my expectations.
I was imagining an album that would be the 21st century Dark Side Of The Moon or The Wall, I was imagining a conceptial polictically charged album that addressed modern life.

With the leaks that fantasy went up with a puff of smoke. I liked IRS and Catcher, thought Better was numetal dirge (took a long time to grow on me), TWAT was meh.
The skwerl leaks with new song 2 and ITW were pretty underwhelming but generally ok songs.

I dont think they damaged my enjoyment of the album, just prepared me for what would have probably been a little bit of a disapointment. Only a disapointment because i had my own expectations.

Its been out a while now, so whats the general opinion you have been hearing from people who have heard the album now?

All the freinds and acquaintencies I've spoke to are pretty underwhelmed, most say it was ok, it has a couple of good songs but not enough to keep them interested. Some say it was just disapointing overall.

I havnt spoke to anyone yet who loved it.

I'm really suprised as I thought these folk would go nuts over it, but instead of that its greeted with a collective "meh."

I've been out Christmas shopping lately and noticed AC/DC's albums are attracting a lot of attention in shops, and the new album seems to be a popular gift. The AC/DC and Metallica sections seem a bit bare, lots of people grabbing them for stocking fillers. I even considered getting my brother a copy of those new albums and he's not much of a fan but doesnt mind them. He thinks CD is a turd and detests Axl anyway, so thats not even an option.

But I have noticed that CD looks rather lonely on the shelves and not attracting much interest, well no interest at all in any of the shops I was pottering around in.
I wonder where the problem lies with the casual music fan that dont find the album appealing.

#3298 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » I bought GN'R vinyl today » 933 weeks ago

Its great fun, one thing I notice how you sit and listen more intently and pay attention to the song more. I was delighted to find that Slash's funky guitar on the outro to Locomotive sounds a lot more dominant. On cd it drifts in and out from behind the piano and vocals.

I joined that itunes site in the buildup to chinese democracy, I'd never bothered about it before. I downloaded the single on mp3 and thought WTF is this?! It sounded shit. I havnt downloaded anything else from the site, fuck that, if I want new music I'll go out and buy it on cd or vinyl and hear it how its supposed to sound.

I bought Use Your Illusion 2 on vinyl today and a new stylus, its sounding goooooooooood.....

I'll pick up UYI1 next week, after Christmas I'll get Chinese Democracy.

I think I've got the vinyl bug again, my old decks lay unused for 7 years and I dug them out the other week. I'm think I'm going to start collecting records, been looking through the classified and suprised at the amount of classic albums people are practically giving away. Zavvi in the UK have a pretty good selection of represses, gonna get me some Stevie Wonder next week lol. Superstition on vinyl will be sweet!

Any other vinyl lovers?

Heres a pic to make you jealous big_smile

Hi Ron, seen you in Glasgow Scotland with GNR, t'was a great fkn night!

I would like to ask if your solos on Shacklers and Riad were influenced at all by Buckethead and did you secretly try to outdo him?

Also, Axl spoke about the origins of Catcher In The Rye recently, can you tell us a little about your experiences and thought process working on that song?

Thank you much!! smile
