9,000 at the gig. surprised tbh. even more surprised how well they all sounded. stood @ mixing desk & CD/Jungle were a little fuzzy after that it was really exceptional - the odyssey is usually terrible for sound but GnR were amazing. really great performance & good atmosphere..

just back home.
i left after house lights went up - one of the stwards came ove & told us to go home, i asked a second guy & he said same thing to contact ticketmaster/mcd in morning for a refund. this is at least 15mins after they'd walked.
by the time i got back to hotel they'd gone back on stage but i just checked out, jumped in my car & came home.
they went on @ 10.25.
there was a lot of PLASTIC bottles being thrown. there was a stupid butch lesbian behind me kept chucking them at ron & whoever wandered over to that side. there are no glass bottles or cups on sale @ the venue.
didn't see axl in car park like the woman on radio said but pretty much everything else she said was otfm - he really looked like he didn't want to be there.
ftr bfast the night before is maybe the best i've ever seen guns.
been a sleepless few days so i'm off to bed dreamin about getting a refund. there's 2 much bad shit from 2night to process atm..
edit - & 4tus kinda looks like adrien brody
#3483 Re: Guns N' Roses » GN'R Twitter Updates » 785 weeks ago
if doc's gone (or was never really there in a full time capacity) it just shows how adrift GnR are of the bizness not to mention what must be the coma-like state of their relationship with geffen..

Another short article. I actually thought the promoter handled things VERY well, in the end.
he's a double talkin jive motherfucker.

i think that's a fair assessment of things.

of course it's been a bloodbath. if it wasn't you wouldn't have heard anything about the gigs. they'd have got zero credit or goodwill from the press if they'd had done a 'normal' gig like everyone else, or even an epic 3 hour one. it doesn't excuse what happened but it was the only way they were going to get so much press coverage. every time there's a UK tour & it's a disaster (which is most times) they get shit on, if it's good it gets ignored & someone else will be slated during that time. axl's the villain of the week, they don't do heroes of the week.
whenever they come back for their arena shows there'll be a lot more attn was on them than before these shows. (& how much attn would these shows have had were it not for twittergate..)
i think they're reasonably intelligent. axl's a smart guy, bumble's a teacher i believe & tommy's pretty sharp. you could be right tho, a lot of the beggars n hangers on are really stoopid there's no doubt about that.
they are jokers tho, in a bad way..

sounds pretty good imo..

What was sad was reading the review and finding out the place was half empty while the other acts were slammed full of people. GNR was once the biggest band in the world, now they are like Def Leopard or Poison.
if u look thru the press clippings & negative reviews of these shows the 1 consistent argument is name-dropping tommy stinston.
as far as GnR goes the indie community have long since passed judgement on GnR & decided tommy as the only credible element - because he was in a hip college rock band 30 years ago.
the fact the other acts were slammed full of people has more to do with the predominant indie-kid atmosphere. claims that reading/leeds is a rock festival either this year or last are ludicrous. GnR probably shouldn't be headlining such a bill.
now i know they did themselves no favours in trying to win round the rest of the crowd but tbh i'd rather have things like they are instead of having NME-led poseurs thinking that GnR are cool.

...And the music, what is that???
sounded pretty similar in places 2 we are scientist on 301. so much of indie music is interchangable & soundalike.
NR was pretty fab i thought. enjoyed the solo's, axl sounded great & band looked terrific 2nd half of the song.
stood out a mile from the mire of drab samey nonsense.
def much older crowd at GnR..
more snarky comments from presenters. any1 watch interview w/klaxons 4 comparison? such PR managed BS & poseur prats..
