The true fanaticals are the ones who spin this into a "non-event".

Unbelieveable.

i think you do have a point that it is another example of the poor management of the band.
radio stations over here are reporting the upcoming belfast gig is cancelled so obviously the clean-up hasn't been as thorough as it should be (but paradoxically it also shows that people do care or take an interest).

but it also has been blown out of proportion for something that on the surface at least doesn't seem to be axl or GnR's fault. now obv their way of dealing with these things, incidents like this are bound to happen so in that respect they do have to shoulder some blame.
but in terms of this being the straw that broke the camels back of many fans i don't buy. like you've said we've suffered thru much crazier bullshit from axl before. this is relatively small fry & quite innocuous in the grander scheme of the clusterfuck.

No, that's bullshit. The same people who have been saying the same bullshit are still saying the same bullshit they've been saying during every other "incident" that comes along. This twitter thing is just an excuse to say it again.

It's a hacked twitter account. It's happened to a shit load of celebrities. AND IT JUST HAPPENED.

Did he actually post it then turn around and change his mind? Maybe. But acting like he did, for a fact, do it is what's truly bullshit.

All I see are a bunch of people either overreacting or using this incident like they do with every other incident invloving GNR in the last ten years, to insert more of their assumptions and opinions about shit that doesn't really matter.

Yeah, you don't care about GNR anymore or Axl. What's new. That's why you can't stop fucking talking about them.

good post.

that is interesting. i honestly don't believe axl'll be THAT late on the UK/Dublin dates due to their curfew fines.
Dublin '06 they came on on time no delay & i don't recall many late starts fron the UK arena tour that followed.
i might be wrong tho. & might be tempting fate.

When you think about it, THIS gig was doomed from a starting time standpoint.  It's in a remote area without a curfew.  They're the last band to play of the entire festival.  The band before them didn't finish up until after 11pm.  So it was inevitable that GNR wouldn't go on until well after midnight.

the same thing happened @ leeds '02 - the festival day was running long & the prodigy didn't end their set until it was nearly time 4 GnR's set so it is somewhat understandable. still doesn't excuse all the times he's been late 4 genuine asshole reasons & doesn't excuse the dull setlist - because it was a one-off they really had a chance to put in a special shift..

But then it could have been a hack by someone who knew that. And I guess it's not rocket science to offer a refund as part of a fake tour over message. But it does make me wonder if something upset him and whatever that was has now passed.

maybe we'll get a different setlist now..
the wording & abruptness of the tweet was very axl-like.

I still don't know if I buy it.  More likely Axl made the tweet and they're trying to talk him down now.  If someone actually hacked into his account they could've done a lot more harm.  Maybe that's the beauty of it though, keep it short and sweet and ultimately believable.

yea the timing of it & the execution was perfect IF it was a hacker. the event you described of axl posting it then changing his mind is plausable tho. atm looks like the tour is back on..
(about an hour ago i was heading for bed n thought i'd have a quick gander online before shutting down 4 the night..)

#3578 Re: Guns N' Roses » World Tour Cancelled? » 787 weeks ago

his twitter wasn't hacked. bumble's confirmed the cancellation & said nobody has left the band.
edit - maybe not..

#3579 Re: Guns N' Roses » World Tour Cancelled? » 787 weeks ago

IF axl has done this 4 lulz then it'd be an Epic Win, but i doubt he's that funny..
apparently nobody has left - 'apparently' bumble replied 2 someone sayin "give it 48hrs see if it can be resolved" "
